Hi guys. I need a little help with an error report I got when trying to play Drakensang on a virtual machine running windows xp sp 3.
The picture below shows the error message I got:

This error report I get when trying to start the game in the browser using java plug-in, but when i try to start the game using the thin client it simply doesn't work. I insert the username and password, but it has no reaction when I press the start button.

Has anyone ever encountered the same problem ?
Did you find any solutions to this problem ?

    Thanks,
    Coograth

    Hi Coograth,

You don't have the 3D graphic card turned on, in your virtual machine.
Go to the setup of your virtual machine and turn it on.

Btw, using a virtual machine at work, so your boss won't catch you, is not cool:D:D:D

I am using WMWare Workstation but I haven't tried running Drakensang on it.
But I think it is not possible. You see ... when using virtual machine, everything on it is virtual ... including the graphic card. You may chose to use 3D graphic card ... but actually it does not exactly lets the guest system use the card, but does some kind of mapping.
I found some article and it says:
The quote above is for Virtual Box and is little bit old but you can read it in full here or search the net.
I was able to play some games on virtual machine in the past, but mostly they were older games that are not so demanding.

I managed to activate and properly configure the 3D acceleration, but I stumbled on another error message.

I think this one it a dead end. And like @trakilaki said there is no work-around. Because the virtual machine only simulates the actual graphic card on the host.

One thing I did manage is to use the wide screed resolution of my laptop :D

PS : @Bearer-of-Death it's only for my personal laptop at home. Just to see if it works :p

    Hi Coograth,

If you told me sooner that you used "VirtualBox", i would have said to you...forget "VirtualBox" it doesn't support "shadermodel".

psst, come closer so my boss can't hear you:p
I use VMware all the time at work and it works perfectly;)

I hope that you will keep this info to yourself, because if my boss finds out...i'm toasted:D:D:D
