I want to know when will you remove pots from arena although you promised it long time ago.It is very unfair and they need to be removed.

    Regards.

I don't know if it is unfair. Its clearly advantageous for high HP builds over damage builds, and HP pots drop frequently enough in the game such that F2P can use them.

  3. The latest information we have is that HP pots will not be removed from the arenas any time soon. No reason for this decision was given.

I think that some p(l)ayer were angry about it, so they decided to avoid the removal of potion...

Buying them is pointless when they drop frequently in pws. I understood the complaints about people using universals when it was back in the +3598 drop days, but now anybody can farm an universal pot stash.

Now that anybody can get them, there's no need to take them out of pvp.

As for the impact in low level pvp, I don't care.

I really do not see what this would accomplish. My reasoning is based on the history of pvp in this game. The devs have been messing with PvP mechanics since Feb 2012 (R039) in response to player complaints about the "unfair" idea. I was a bit surprised when I returned to the game that ess had finally been removed from the arenas after years of threads asking for this.

But what did this accomplish? Imo, absolutely nothing. I still see players doing whatever it takes to win. They have simply adapted to the change and there are plenty of gimmicks left in the game mechanics to allow them to do so.

True, removing health pots would eliminate isolated instances of frustration. But no single change will address the overall problems with pvp in this game. Players that are so obsessed with winning will simply adapt and rely more heavily on some other gimmick.

A more balanced and satisfying pvp experience in DSO will never come from line item changes. Rather the whole system need to be rethought. I could make this a very long post detailing how every single line item change to pvp that I can remember has backfired in some way. I will refrain though since it would be pointless.

My advice is that if getting pwned by some gimmick is so upsetting then adapt and find the gimmicks that can be used to prevent this. Or... my better advice... just relax. Take what you can get and ignore the rest :)

    Luck be with ye,

I was a rather fiery advocate of this... but really, the problem is not the potions. The problem is the people. I mean, they are items available to all within the game and have their purpose and strategical value. Thing is, when used like this, it gets frustrating: the opponents battle, one of them is nearly dead, so he rushes out, heals, then comes in for the win on the weakened foe. The other guy hates this because he didn't use a pot himself and maybe even doesn't normally, so he sees the pot-user as cowardly and "unfair" - to be understood as "lacking sportsmanship".

...Where as I see them as tactically smart and resourceful. The key in any fight is to not fight fair. The goal is to win.

Essence was a different story because you couldn't farm above blue ess and with the DPS balance problems in PvP right now, even 10% could be adding fuel to the fire.

i don't use pots....they are on a hotkey so i have clicked by accident but could probably count the times on the fingers of one hand LOL

but not potting is my choice....if others want to pot, especially those with weaker toons, that's ok with me :)

even though it sometimes takes forever it's more fun winning when the guy holding the flag for the other team is eating pots like candy :)

besides i'd rather lose a few than piss off everyone

Healing potions are just part of the strategy ... just like the buffs and essences.
