problem the game is loading forever

    i played 6 months ago this game and it worked fine for me. now when i try to start it its loading forewer. Do you have a solutiom?

    1. Try to refresh.

    2. Clear browser’s cache: history -> clear recent history -> all; show details, select cache (buffer).

    3. Clear java cache: start -> search and open java -> temporary internet files -> settings -> delete files -> ok.

    4. Clear flash cache: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html

    Click this link and clear/delete all.

    5. Clear the games client folder: user/appdata/local/temp/(gameclient; map with gamename).

    This should get you started. If not, give a shout.

    No help for me. This problem has recently occurred for. I have uninstalled the game, but cannot seem to find the thin client needed (that I have used before) to install and run the game. I tried launching the game from the "Play Now" option, but get the same, slow load which eventually presents the "retry" option which doesn't work. Any other thoughts?

    I followed #4 above and it takes me to Adobe site. I do not see an option to delete/clear all unless you are referring to Clear All under History, but I think that is covered in #2 above.

    I uninstalled and then installed the game, problem still persists. It is rare now that I can get passed the loading phase without the "retry" popping up.

    After re-booting my computer, I was able to launch two characters before the long install, then failure to install occurred. I think it is on Drakensang to fix the bugs, not for me to clear out my cache for adobe, history, etc... I am not a computer geek at all...

    @MorDerMe Most errors can be fixed by following the steps cleaning as GRAMPS listed above, so we encourage everyone to first clear out possible defective files. Here is a guide to some of the steps listed above. Try following these steps and post here if you still have trouble connecting to the game.

    Download the Thin Client: HERE

    To clear out your DSO client folder:

    First open your start menu and type in %temp% and "Enter"

    Then Find and Delete the entire DSOClient folder.

    To Clear Browser Cache (Chrome):

    Select the settings button > Tools > Clear browsing data...

    I followed both those steps, and still get kicked out of the game after just a few minutes. What other measures are recommended?

    OK, I have done all the above and it is still slow to launch, if at all. What do you suggest now?

    In fact, after following all the above, it is even worse.

    I am reading thread after thread of other players concerned about the same things -- slow launch, can't find character on screen, just see names, not icons... this cannot just be my problem. What is the game doing about fixing this -- the recommended fixes have not worked for me. I find this incredible that this is happening.

    Oh well, I guess maybe tomorrow...I'll check in later...

    Go to start --> run --> type dxdiag.exe and press enter. Small pop up window will display ... make screenshots of the first two tabs (system and display) and post them here.

    Slow loading of the game is normal after clearing your Drakensang cache. This will only be temporary and the game should function again normally once all the images are loaded.

    Automatic logout seems to be an isolated case, as I have not heard of it happening elsewhere (recently). I'll try to walk you through other possible causes for your connection issue.
    • When did you first notice these issues? After R119?
    • Which server do you play on?
    • Have you tried using the Thin Client? Do you still have the same issues?
    • Try disabling your Antivirus temporarily and running the game.
    • Try disabling your Firewall.
    • Posting your computer specifications as outlined by @trakilaki may also help track down possible issues. (you can also send this information to support if you would rather not post it on the boards).
    In the future, please stick to your issue on one thread. If you are the final poster and would like to add additional information to your post, use the "Edit" button and add your comments to the previous post. Otherwise, it will be treated as spamming the forums.

    Thank you, but I am trying to get responses as (reasonably) quickly as possible. I am also following other threads with similar problems, looking for answers. Yes, again a slow start, and again kicked out of the game after several minutes (at most) of play. Now I am getting concerned that I need disable my firewall and anti-virus -- actions that still may not be the problem. I use the Agathon server. I was just in the game for about 5 minutes on Agathon and kicked out again.

    After the initial time I can log into the game, the next time, the process is very slow -- the green bar is slow to fill across the screen -- and I cannot log in. Since you mentioned other isolated cases, that tells me there are others experiencing this problem. What seems to be the root of this problem?

    I believe I am using the Thin Client -- DRO Thin Client is across the top of the pop up screen that launches the game.

    Yes, the issues followed the launch of R119...

    ...and, I have tried contacting Support with only one reply, but no follow up after I responded to Support's initial reply...

    Waiting about 5 minutes, the program seems to try to load faster, but not successfully, and the "retry" button comes up which has been ineffective so far.

    Turing the firewall off does not help -- just tried it. Will try the anti-virus route next.

    Again, it appears that if hours have gone by, the game will launch pretty well, but then I get kicked out. Trying to load the game again produces a very slow load time and then a failure to launch.

    I don't understand the instructions. I have Windows 8 and cannot find the search bar easily in order to complete your instructions. I can't imagine many of the players of this game are IT techs who can navigate their computers so easily as the instructions seem to imply.

    I am trying to attach a picture, but

    DirectX Diagnostic Tool in header...then begins with...Do you want to check if your drivers are digitally signed? To check your drivers... No error message, though...

    The Diagnostic tool does not report any problems for any of the Tabs included in the tool. What next do you recommend?

    Those are the images...don't know why they are not displaying correctly...

    Same issue for me... have been playing quite a while, and only recently -- o/a the latest game revision, R119, did this start happening. In fact, I have had issues following other game updates, but after a short time, been able to solve the problem. However, this seems to be a big problem with other threads posting similar issues and frustrations. Trying to work this out with the administrators, but nothing has solved the problem to date.

    I exited the game and re-booted my computer -- that was a little while ago. I was able to quickly log onto the game, but after about 5 minutes, unceremoniously kicked out again... Would appreciate more insights to the effects of the R119 upgrade and those sharing my issues since that upgrade. It is frustrating and annoying... thanks for your help so far, but none of the recommended fixes have worked...

    OK, I'll edit from here on out... Still having problems though...

    OK, I logged in again, fairly quick log and start -- a minute later, kicked from the game... would appreciate some productive insights to fix this issue. Thanks again!

    Where and what are the UPLOAD instructions/icon to upload pictures the forum? My only options are create a URL link. I should be able to upload a picture -- as an option -- but don't have that available.

    Can you provide following info?
    1. Are you playing on PC or laptop..LAPTOP
    2. What type of connection you are using wireless or Ethernet(wired)...WIRELESS

    When I click the IMAGE button, it asks for a URL...si that what should be happening?

    OK, when trying to post picture use "image" feature not hyperlink. If you are using image feature and still no image is displayed then on your image "right click" with your mouse and select view image ... than copy/paste that address from address bar.

    If you can't find START menu read the instructions at this link, it is for windows 8.
    I don't want your driver details, just first two tabs for system and display.
    You can mask your computer name in the picture as it is not important for me.

    Can you provide following info?
    1. Are you playing on PC or laptop
    2. What type of connection you are using wireless or Ethernet(wired)

    I always use the Thin Client
    This is the only thing I can find to do (and I don't think prudent to do so). My antivirus does not offer a "button" or link to turn it off, although I have turned off the firewall, but that hasn't helped).
    Again, I find this ridiculous that this all of a sudden my issue as well as to expect me to snake through my computer specs as if I am a Tech - knowing what I am doing.

    I get it, trak, much appreciated, but nothing has worked to improve the situation. I have tried contacting tech support several times with only one reply, so that isn't working well.

    Yes, there are many problems and you know, some of us are just not computer savvy and, so, to expect someone to be able to walk their way through the caches and files and folders is a bit much to expect.

    I signed onto this for entertainment, not to help program the site. It is clear from the different threads recently as well as about 6 weeks ago, that changes made to the game have acted to exclude people from enjoying it. SO, I feel I can stand on a soap box and exclaim as loud as I want because the expectation is that the Administrators and Techies could make this work.

    Just conducted a system restore back 7 days, still same problem. I think I have gone above and beyond the call of duty on this. Time for Game Administrators to own up and fix the problem. BTW, still haven't heard back from support team... hopefully they are working to fix this game wide problem...

    I use McAfee anti-virus program. Just installed Malware -bytes program, but this was done long after any problems mentioned herein.

    AND, I still cannot stay logged into the game.

    I am just trying to help you. What else you expect someone to do ... connecting to your system and solve the problem for you? :)
    But after I have processed your "vivid, vast amount" of info you leave me no choice but to conclude that I am not qualified enough to help you any further.:(
    You can contact support.

    Now I must go back to the game and play the new contents and events. :D
