raise level cap to 70 or 80, instead of downgrading what we have already and trying to figure out how this is going to work,(what game out there today really raises its cap by only 5 levels?)
(No need to Nerf or Tweak anything)=part of growing and building your character through progression.
add more new skills ect, problem solved.
this is how you upgrade a game.

sure, keep the new system but incorporate it for a 30-40 level increase-not 5 levels.
it's obvious we shouldn't have to lose anything at all in this epic change.
so why try to change everything for only a 5 level difference?

think about it,, 5 levels, what are they going to change in the next 5 level cap?

To All Players in the Drakensang Universe,
Please Vote and voice your opinions here and let your voice be Heard.
if you have ideas to improve a higher level cap please reply, but don't waste time on a 5 level cap. thanks:)

Yeah, sure, it'll only take about ten years, if they release five more levels every two years.
You do realise how much work goes in doing all the new maps, quests, enemies, skills etc., right? And the higher the levels get, the more quests and content you need - at the beginning, big content updates came out with an interval of about half a year (Teganswall, Norselands, Atlantis - not counting Sea of Shadows, as it really didn't have that much content), then, about a year after Atlantis, Myrdosch game out, and now, after two years, Lor'Tac is coming out. We will probably have to wait quite a long time until level 55 is here (if there even will be a level 55), and if they decided to raise the cap by 10 instead of 5, we would have to wait double the time.

Not sure if this is a troll or what.

yes,i made maps ect before and its really not that difficult with technology today.
you see how they reuse castle, made pastures different, added and delete dungeons? did that take 2 years?
same can be applied and with a more realistic higher cap we can have our points we need to get our skills and fame back, for maybe that wouldn't have to change at all and we can keep what we have and just have a new and useful upgrade.
but if people like to play for years only to have their toon nerfed down time and time again to support a 5 level difference, well, the players can answer that. i know i don't .
this is not a troll thread, thx for your replies.

Exactly, they remade Swerdfield pastures, so they already had a foundation for it. That means it was less work. Also, the small crypt is really small compared to all the other maps they've been adding, well, maybe except for Flesh Chamber.

Don't know about you and the others, but at least I'd rather have quality over quantity.

Generally, the amount of work required will grow to match the amount of time available. Unless you were BigPoint, in which case the amount of work required has always been about 3 times the amount of time available. LOL
Considering all the assets already manufactured in scenery, color palettes, animation, programming, and processing, and the hard assets in servers and offices, there is no reason that products do not roll out on a regular basis. Continent size, story line, previous staff budgets, and quality levels are not set in stone. Past practice does not guarantee future results.

Estimates for Lor'tac and level 50 are all over the place. Some say they can burn through all the new maps and quests in a matter of weeks, others say months, some say they will never see Lor'Tac.
I think each month would benefit from a Full Moon event, a New Moon event, and monthly Big Event. The Big Events would be anything over 2 days, like the Defend Series, Dragan, Sargon, etc. The larger events would counter the boredom of taking another toon through the same maps and quests. To satisfy players, the Big Events would need to be relatively bug and glitch free. It is far from decided, if BigPoint is up to the task.
Now that PvP is irrelevant to PvE, something needs to fill the gap. For competitive warriors, Guild Wars might be enough.

A side issue is player turnover. Very few players still exist from the beta days of 2011. For that matter, few players show up over a year. A lot of old timers show up briefly, now and then; some stay, some do not. I would image most F2P last only a few weeks or months, but DSO is free to give us more accurate information.
The planned changes will be noticed by the current players; first timers will be unaware of the changes for the most part. In respect to the life cycle of DSO, another 10 years is an eternity. What we have to work with is now.

As to the seasoned players that keep the game running by showing up, making forum posts and support tickets, and have a high tolerance to low quality and poor communications, Thank You.

just to be clear, cramming and nerfing everything into a 5 level upgrade is ridiculous. i love this game,im a vet,but it pains me see this.
    Hello Heroes,

The developing team has changed its release cycle from 2 weeks to 3 weeks.

    What does this mean?

Well, instead of having a release every 2 weeks, now a release

will be launched every 3 weeks.

    Why is this being done?

Our game is growing a lot and with so many complex features in the game

and so many even more complex features which are about to come our team

will need more time to develop and test these features.

This also means that we are shortening the times the servers will be offline for maintenances (yeey!).

Now of course the new release cycle has an effect on the features and thus

you will see that many features that used to be scheduled for release 157 are now
and you all still want only a 5 level increase?

    --MERGED--

we can still have quality without sacrifice,so far every player is not happy with all these changes, nerfing crit,hp,armor, skills ect.
just to fit in a 5 level increase.
when all along they could of did it this way without sacrificing anything. and all would be happy.right?;)

I'm talking about adding 10 or more levels in a single update - if they were to do double the amount of things in the same time, the overall quality would really suffer from that. What I meant is that I'd rather have 16 good-quality, polished maps than 30 unfinished maps done in a hurry.

You say you are a veteran, but what you propose is completely unrealistic.
At every big update, there have been bugs. A lot of annoying bugs have also come through very little changes. Remember the hitbox-bug? It more than annoyed people for weeks, and the release it came with did only little good for the game in general, and was just a minor update.
The Myrdosch-expansion was a big part of starting the content->bugfixes-era, and the bugs coming with the releases almost crippled the game several times.
If the Dev's started working on a 10Lv+ projekt, the game would never survive it. They would be stock in bugfixes until everyone stopped playing, or everyone would quit right away, thanks to game being unplayable.

I've only resently returned to the game, to give it one more chance with the new expansion. I sure hope they don't mess it up with bugs.

    Have a nice day!

Sure hope so too. So far I have only encountered one minor bug, and it seems like they have already fixed some of the bugs on testserver.

If you look at the other games that have lots of lots of levels, most "sell" the ability to automatically reach the upper levels as to not discourage new players who are too lazy to work their way through the game. If you look at it like the gaming companies do, new players spending money vs veteran players spending money the answer becomes a no brainer.

yes i remember, but the point is to increase and "gain" in levels and not to do a "backwards spiral into the abyss".and lose what we earned through years of playing.
we all expected a new land, not really a whole new game system, thus a new game.
what i see is they "nerf" an expansion rather than going foreword they stay stuck in this groove, they really need to marry these new ideas without the "nerf".
as far as bugs go,thats what u get for fixing what is not broken.
this is a much easier way to expand than what they are doing, without the nerfs and bugs.
and welcome back, by the way;)

What is the difference between +5 levels versus +40 levels?
Would 40 levels be more fun just because there are 40 instead of 5?
How about playing with 40 ping pong balls instead of 5?
My point is more is not always fun and the number of levels is just.. a number.

Usually, most games do update with only +5 or +10 levels. I have been an avid MMORPG player for over 10 years and not once saw a game adding more than 10 levels at a time.

If it is a copy of the same content with slight changes such as textures and sounds throughout all the 40 levels that you suggest wouldn't that be so boring?

Usually when a game adds new level expansion they add some new interactions, play styles, skills, monster behaviors, new world features, etc.
To add such things for 40 levels or 8 times of what they can do now actually takes 8 more times than it would take them to add 5 levels, if they want to make those new 40 levels interesting and unique.
If not, then it is just another 40 ping pong balls and I don't want that.

funny thing is, all this Nerfing is what you all really wanted?
40 ping pong balls looks better every day, doesn't it?

    You all? Please!

The Lone Ranger and Tonto were riding out in the desert, when they spied a band of 100 hostile Indians to their left. They decided to make a run for it, so they high tailed out to their right. The hostiles gave chase.
Then the Lone Ranger and Tonto ran into another band of 100 hostile Indians, directly ahead of them. They would soon be surrounded. The Lone Ranger turned to his faithful Indian companion and said, "Well, Tonto, it looks like we're finished. We're gonna die."
And Tonto turned to his faithful, long-time companion, and said, "What you mean 'we,' paleface?"

Level upgrade SHOULD be lower. The lower the cap raise the better the experience. Every good game does it increments of 5.

Yes I agree. DSO have not changed anything when they update new releases. On the surface it seems like they have but their goal has always been money which is why this game is based on grind and visual not fun and interesting. There is no doubt DSO is a very beautifully made game but underneath the visual it is a very bad designed game mechanic and system.

    Here are some observations:

    1. When COT was removed and replaced by gold, crafting was also removed so there was no benefit.
    2. When weapons and armour increases their enchantment, the monsters became stronger and characters are weakened. 3. Time spent on new releases are mostly visual details on maps such as objects falling instead of important features or bugs like chat system.
    4. Unnecessary higher tier gem uprade ie royal gem and useless invention ie repair tool box.
    5. Lack of creativity or laziness by recycling items - epic dragon mounts are all the same except different colours.
    6. Most hard bosses are not hard because they have interesting skills but because of unnaturally high hitpoints. Defeat the undefeatable ? No, repeat the repeatable.
    7. High glyph costs which increases exponentially.

Having said that, r155 is the biggest change DSO has made because of the overhaul of the skill, wisdom, pvp system which is one of the most important aspect in these types of game. Old vetern who are used to old system wont like it but comparing to other games and what DSO have done in the past , it is definitely an improvement or in the right direction.
