PvP levels ruin the game, only 1k active players

    I really enjoy the pvp aspect of this game, its where an MMORPG is supposed to shine. But as far as Drakensang Online is concerned, it seems to me that the developers are just wanting the players with deeper pockets. This game is awful in the pvp aspect. Allowing players to exp block with high level players so they get infinite glyphs with no work, allowing them to use gems to make them practically invincible, allowing a level 5 play their first pvp match against a level 9 Centurion, in almost every way the pvp system is awful and broken into such tiny pieces the only way to fix it would be to reset everyone, and if that happened, all the newer players trying to enjoy the game would rejoice, and all the pvp bullies and high level players who are always both, would throw a fit and whine and cry all day long about how unfair that is. When in all fairness, the MMORPG pvp should ALWAYS be considered at least somewhat fair, a small advantage is no reason for concern, but when there is a match that there is no possible way at all no matter what happens for one player to even hurt the other. That is cause for concern and plenty reason to come up with a new pvp system.


    From the point of view of a player for over a year, this is what needs to be fixed.
    1. Mentor Bonus
    -this should go, entirely, anyone who has benefited from this below level 30 should have every single point they have gotten from it revoked, im not saying going from 10,000 honor points to 0. Im saying take away everything that was achieved through the 200% bonus. 10,000 would then be 3,333. Anyone who says otherwise is just a EDIT kid who wants to be a low level bully to the new players.

    2. Glyphs of Power
    -Glyphs of Power are a huge aspect of what makes this game unique and special, i love this mechanic and it should stay, albeit some drastic changes are required for it to not be taken advantage of. Such as making it so low level players cannot farm with players of higher level. They can keep their exp block, but they should not be able to get items from it, in my opinion, anything 5 levels higher or lower and you shouldn't get any gear as drops. Make it so the exp is the same as the drops. No exp, no drops.
    -Also, make is so that when a player upgrades his items through Glyphs, put a level restriction on them, perhaps 5 levels would be fair. This is to help all the newer players, as the bullies would have no way to overpower their gear anymore.

    3. Paying To Win
    -I understand that with a free game, there is a need of finances to pay for the servers and updates and etc., but allowing players who have deeper pockets buy all the advantages they want is stupid. Maybe instead of allowing players to become nearly invincible, give them cosmetic changes, new areas, more special items that won't make them over powered in PVP but would enhance the enjoyment in the game.

    4. PVP Ranks
    -This is one of the most rediculous and stupid ways the ranks could have been implemented. As i stated before, people abuse this way too much in matches, in Drakensang Online, its more about the rank of a player than anything else. Everyone I has spoken to agrees, when looking at the players on each team, the winner will always be the one with the highest rank. This is even more of an issue for low levels. A few days ago, I was put into a capture the flag match with a level 18 SW that was a recruit, severely under ranked for that level i know, but that wasn't my issue, my team mates were all seasoned legionnaires and the same was for the other team except for one player. A level 17 Centurion, by the end of the match, my team had been spawn trapped and the Centurion was killing every one of us with one shot of his basic attack, while we were doing no more than 20 damage every hit. Now this kind of thing needs to be fixed more than most of the other things, the ranks in pvp are a good idea, but poorly done. I think that players should be catagorized into level and rank, not just one or the other.

    That is basically all there is that is needed to fix pvp in Drakensang Online. If anyone else has anything to add please do so, and on the account of the +1% damage, that is not really a big deal, for example. 100 damage will become 101 damage, and thats not important. On the account of the accumalative amount of +1%, that would be fixed if the matches are catagorized into rank and level as i stated previously.

    So exactly what is the fairest way to match players at any given moment? Fame level, rank, offensive/defensive strength, win/lose record.. . everything has flaws and has ways to be exploited.

    Past players earned their stripes legitimately,they had to deal with what there was. Is it a surprise that someone with 4000 hours of play a year would have some boss equipment and gems?

    And would you give up your accomplishments, so that a newcomer could feel better about playing?

    And, would you delay games until the "perfect" match-up occurs, or go with the closest fit when enough players are available? Waiting is boring too.

    Really, not even 1 match?

    If you are too weak or unskilled to win a 1v1, try 3v3 or matches with more players. This way you will see how other players use their skills, how they move, what gets them out of hairy situations and what lands them kills. In addition, some teammates will be able to secure a victory for your team despite your poor performance - the more players there are in the match the less its outcome depends on your performance. So if your PvP is bad just join matches with more people in them and try to learn as much as you can in the process.

    just have an arena(1v1-3v3-5v5-6v6) same level player,no pots no buffs,just the gear u earned playing the game,leave talent tree the same,with hard work u will work ur way up that tree,,,and with this i suggest a free for all Death match=No teams,last man standing,,and i am a free to play player,if i did pay to play i would kill you all,,muha ha ha ha ha ha ha'cough' ha ha ha ha,nuff :)

    I agree that PvP is a mess at times and there are a few players that are unbeatable, but usually only ppl who spend much $$$. That is the gist of the imbalance even the low level tough guys are spending money on glyphs to level up their gear and at higher levels it is the gems. Although it is frustrating to lose to the same set of ppl over and over you must keep in mind that their money is what keeps this game F2p for others! Instead of getting angry just say thank you ;)

    Sometimes i think the older players of this game thinks they are the only ones who should play. Everybody have the right to create a PVP char,also everybody wants a fight when they go to pvp. I know a ridiculous lvl 14 with 600-700 base damage. He and some others dont let nobody play pvp, simple because its not about play , its about to give fame for them. Again ill say , though its useless, if a player have 600-700 base dmg , its about lvl 20-25 on pvp rank he must fight players with the same stats he has and the pvp problem is gone! It may be hard to devs to do it and also a lot of this overpowereds will hate cause they bought gems exactly to make them feel the better on pvp. But this is not to satisfy the ego of some few players. This game must satisfy most of the players. they can buy all the stuff they want , but DSO devs must give everybody a chance for a fight , not the certain of a death.When will pvp change? I have a lvl 45 and im fine on pvp , i know ill face tons of good players , old ones , and its ok. But when my lvl 45 was 30-35 it was the same problem and i gave up on pvp at that time. I built another char that is lvl 14 thinking , now ill be able to build a char to have a fight on pvp. lol , no there is no fair on pvp, its ok when i face a lvl 19 when i see he is a "normal" player and at least i have a chance to try to survive. But no, at 14 lvl there is about 10 players that if they are online , u can forget pvp because u know ull die - there is no fight. This is waht ruined pvp in this game and this is why we have just a few players on pvp. Who wants to die everytime without a chance?

    People have suggested limiting the quality of gems a player can use based on level to discourage cash twinking or made recommendations that any gear can only be upgraded five levels past the players level, or limiting the fame tree/knowledge tree to being no higher than the player's PvE level... All of these suggestions could be wonderfully successful at preventing twinking in the game, but I doubt the devs will do it because I'm sure that BP sees a good chunk of revenue from twinks creating uber low level toons. But hey, a guy can dream, right?

    If the thought of fixing PVP is to make fair matches I think the solution is much simpler than folks are making it. I like and agree with many of the ideas others have put forward so not discounting those by any measure. But, why not just add char level, fame level, and knowledge level together. You get a number and you could fight anyone within 10 or 15 of that number. Possible adjust the range for 3v3, 5v5 and 6v6. If you've been a heavy P2P your capability will be close to your expenditure or will get there quickly. If you're F2P your capability would be close to lower level P2P. It would balance the playing field. You could do a micro adjustment by including win loss record with some formula to determine an adjustment to the level totals.

    Level 17 FB P2P would fight lvl 45 cent F2P. It would fix the problem over night or at least make the fights more even, and open up the number of players that qualify for a match. It would also eliminate the 44 centurion from having to fight the 45 Field Marshal.

    Its not perfect by any measure, but a far cry improvement, easy to implement and fixes many of the common complaints.

    nooooo,any level can enter kh arena.and reenter after they die.
    probably cant do it unless its 6- 8-10 ppl that can join that are 5 level diffs.
    or even for us endgamers just level 45's,but needs to be not like kh,,you need to join.

    No... the older players went through all the crap that newcomers are now dealing with. Old players have extraordinary understanding of the game mechanics ... which newcomers are lacking.
    You can't learn everything from forums ... it takes long time of playing and gathering experience.
    When the newcomers achieve all these ... they will understand that it makes sense.
