dont know if anyone else thinks the same but to me 6v6 is now play ground for dk and midgets(dwarf). ok dk got stung but now they seem stronger than before

Yes, I agree. DK got stronger. But only those with 6k weapon, with a very well balanced builds, they do not compromise dmg, and still hit you hard with 3 stuns, while still enjoying tons of regen. Those going for extreme hp or dmg are okay.

    Here we go again.....
What pizzes me off is that players who hardly invested anything in their chars, meet fully loaded DK in arena and start whining. As much as I want to be civil and polite, with all due respect, if you don't even have at least flawless/sacred gems with 5 in each piece of your gear, how on earth are you expecting/demanding for a fully Royal DK to be on your level?! Geez people, can you stop the non-sense. And I tell you why I know how it is, I have been playing for 4 years now, my DK is "fully loaded", yet, I meet really good rangers and SWs in arena, which I know for a fact (been friends for years) with gems 1-2 grades below and they hit hard, real hard. DKs are supposed to be able to take good punishment and withstand hits, and as a class now, it's not the case.

Sebastian makes a good point about the Life Keeper, but again, guys, the weapon has been nerfed to it's lowest, and a DK would only get regen with it on a direct hit, means not from burning, or poison or anything else. So, here's my point, if a DK (even a good one with high HP gets more regen from the Life Keeper than he is getting hit by you, it only means that you have EDIT damage and instead of starting another groundless whining, seriously look into developing your toon and maybe put a few thousand Euros into it.

same could be said for all the DKs whining about other classes and making DSO nerf the others. stop whining and put more time into your own toon.

Why do you suppose ppl only compare noob chars to some fully royal DK?)

I'm full royal mage (5x 14% sapphires and so on). I'm flawless DK. There is nothing I can do to a sacred DK from my guild with 6k gnob weapon. There is also nothing another sacred/royal DK can do to a sacred DK with 6k weapon. I have tested that many times with lots of different setups. 6k weapon equipped DK in a balanced mode hs a slightly decreased damage output comparing to himself with better dmg weapon, but that gnob hammer doubles and triples his 20k+ hp over course of the fight.

You have a right to think this is okay. I do not think so. There should not be such an item in the game. Even though that second DK can get that weapon too, and pay 4x for it.

Now if we consider that classes are somewhat balanced, e.g. lets assume sacred archer has 50% chance with sacred DK with similar quality of items and #glyphs.

And all depends on how those two play. Their skills.

Similarity means their damageoutput*survivability is similar taking into account the class difference. Assuming BP balanced those two, dk can boost his damage*survivability index by that weapon by 100%-200%. There is nothing in the world that archer/whoever can do to that DK.

On grimmag, the strongest char is DK. The second strongest is DK. And the other top 5 are also DK. And you could ask them, CalvinHaris, Chaitanya etc. There isn't a single char of any other class that could do something to them.

Just in case, I don't mean DK should be nerfed) the weapon is another story, but there isn't anyone at BP smart enough to understand what does it mean to a balance, so I will not even try)

It's kind of true that Steam Masters are OP in pvp. But believe me a not-good dwarf will not deal any good dmg!
for instance, a mage can shoot the Frozen Sephre and deal a high damage. Moreover, rangers can use the Explosive arrow skill to deal a high damage!

I suggest the removal of the PvP system, completely... just to make people stop crying all the time "nerf this, nerf that...", It's affecting the PvE too, you know!
Just go and play some chess! Ooops.. bad idea, they're gonna try to nerf the queen. :D

You mean investing in your ego? Yeah that's it.
What kind of investment? Money? How much did you invested so far? Few thousand I believe.
On the other hand me and some other cool people here ... have invested several hundred thousands $ in this game ... but we are still completely F2P ... because we don't invest in our ego.
I know this has got nothing to do with the character's strength ... but since you mention "investment" in every post you have made ... let us throw the numbers on the table and measure the investments.

Sebastian what is your character's name?

And how the hell do you measure the "strongest character"?

What top 5 Dragonknights? Since that must be requiring some kind of table ... here is the Grimmag's ranking list

I can see 3 DKs #8, #9 and #13. The DKs #8 and #9 were long time top ranked players ... long long time ago. But in the past one or two years I can only see SWs. The majority of the ranking list including the leading ones are SWs.

Forget about that list, it means nothing)

With all the respect to Dodge, and he is indeed a strong mage, he will have no chances against DKs I mentioned in 1v1. Not right now. None of the other mages.

Mages are ofc very popular easy and fun class, and making points with mage is still easy. It does mean nothing to a 1v1 strength though.

I'm between 200-300 myself. Im not the strongest, I do not consider myself a top 10 or smth of whatever list. But i consiser myself strong enough to give anyone a good fight. And it was like that before. Not now) my current ign is maestroisback.

And the other strong mages are not in the top14. There are super strong mages like Gregorian, Narcisse etc who are not in top 100.

I'm inclined to agree that PvP should be eliminated, but it is so handy to relieve the stress of BP pimping us over. Without the alternative to boring PvE, lousy drops, and fubar, flawed game design, many players would explode.

On a side note, Wikipedia has a quick discussion on the Boomerang Effect, or psychological reactance. IMHO, DSO should listen up.

"In social psychology, the boomerang effect refers to the unintended consequences of an attempt to persuade resulting in the adoption of an opposing position instead. It is sometimes also referred to "the theory of psychological reactance", stating that attempts to restrict a person's freedom often produce an "anticonformity boomerang effect".
Hovland, Janis and Kelly first recorded and named the boomerang effect in 1953, noting that it is more likely under certain conditions:

    • When weak arguments are paired with a negative source.
    • When weak or unclear persuasion leads the recipient to believe the communicator is trying to convince them of a different position than what the communicator intends.
    • When the persuasion triggers aggression or unalleviated emotional arousal. . . ."

Please refer to geoff1's post who said nothing about Life Keeper, it was a general complaining about DKs being strong. You made valid points and I agree on the weapon, and I mentioned this in my other post a while back, that class balancing should not be done with the aid of items like "Life Keeper", instead, I would much prefer DKs being well balanced without having to rely on this sort of items.

I would not be using ranking lists to point out certain class' strength, it does mean nothing really..

Traki, you are talking gibberish here, do you yourself even understand what you are saying? I doubt that....
I respect your work on Wiki, which I have always been using, I respect some of your posts. But throwing "ego" accusations onto others, doesn't make you Mother Teresa, does it? It would be a sin for me to say I have no ego, of course, I do to a healthy extend, but I am genuinely surprised something in my post made your jump up and down, oh, let me guess, total absence of your own ego.... not..

Not long ago, I remember you going off your head about ranger class being slightly adjusted and you go to all sorts of extremes calling developers imbeciles and throwing tantrums. There are ways to address things properly.

Since you don't include me in the "cool people" circle, I am devastated and my day is ruined )))) But let me ask you, who the heck made you the judge of others? The discussion was about the character strength, that's it, there WAS NO need to pull your own ego guns out, was there?

And let me spell something out for you, the game is about money, the whole project would have no development whatsoever if some not so "cool people" were not investing into it.

And in case you haven't noticed my signature that I have borrowed from a really cool movie, it resonated with me deeply and is one of my personal mottos

    We are all sinners ...
What made me jump up? Well ... you were telling the truth ... that made me "jump up" ... the truth always hurts ... and it hurts a lot when you know that only people who pay tons of $ can be called "best" while those who don't even if skillful can't be called that way.
Business indeed ... but this is a game ... If i use "trainer", "cheat codes" or other application to boost up my resources i would be called a cheater ... but using a credit card to boost up your resources is not cheating? Of course it is ... only that is "legal way" of cheating ... and those who do are cheaters too.

Let ME spell something for you ... If those cool guys didn't made the basic tools that DSO devs are using without paying anything ... there would be no DSO or any other game at first place. Remember ... lot of PL's widgets, apps, technologies etc ... i.e. C++ , internet etc ... are free to use because those cool guys who invented and created them are not taking any money if someone is using them.
If the DSO devs create their own PL and their own engine ... only then they are entitled to collect (or not ) money out of their work.

No ... there is no other way ... all the other ways were used long time ago ... in vain.
"slightly adjusted"? Do you know that rangers were severely nerfed with R155 ... much more nerfed than the DKs ... yet DK got improvements to their previous nerfing ... while the rangers are being nerfed even more.
And yes ... I call them names ... look what BigPapa achieved with his politeness ... the man left broken ... I am well experienced and knowledgeable man (in real life) one thing I have learnt is the "bad guys" always win.
I am a bad guy ... just fighting for the good cause.

Of course I didn't made the previous comment to start any grudge with you sorry if it sounded that way ... because you seem like a very cool guy to me. Though sometimes I wonder if you are dev or something ... but hey the devs are cool guys as well (unless ... they step on my nerve).

PS - sorry to hear I made you day ruined :D ... but take a look on the bright side there are plenty of days to come

Blunt and honest, I like that! Traki, I would like to tell you that I never look down on any player that doesn't spend real cash. Not only that, when people send me abuses after they lose in PvP, I never allow myself to reply in the same way, on the opposite, I would comment on their great skills and sometimes even say "sorry if I upset you". I know some hard farmers and dedicated players whose skills are truly amazing.

Please, understand, that I work full time and I don't have unlimited time to play and gain everything my chars need through farming. Also, please understand, that money is not falling on me, I have to work for it, therefore, spending on improving my chars are earned through work in real life.

Another thing, and this is my personal belief, every work has to have some sort of payment for it. For example, if I ever heard about a great book or someone lent it to me, I would read the annotation and a few pages and then give it back and buy my own legit copy of it and that is my way of appreciation to the author for his/her work. Same goes with PC software or music, I never download pirated copies simply because that I believe that the software developers or music performer deserves a payment and if I download a pirated copy, it would mean me contributing to robbing that someone whose work I am using. That's my personal belief and I don't push it onto others.

Please refer to the paragraph above, as it answers this part as well. Partially incorrect, as it's the same as saying that the producers of modern steel products don't deserve any payment and the only one who has to get paid is Henry Bessemer (oh, well, his descendants)

Definitely agree, I guess we all have different ways of expressing ourselves, just have to be mindful of to be avoiding hurting feelings of others when doing so.
DKs had a series of nerfing adjustements since ..... I can't remember, it was in 2012 I believe.....

Thank you for your answer and apologies accepted, likewise, please accept mine, as it is true when I am saying my hat is off to you for all the hard work and dedication on this project...

You seem confused on the definition of Cheating: Act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.

I get your passion, but just because you or anyone else is unwilling or unable to pay money in this game doesn't give you the right to call them a cheater. DSO does not have rules against paying, as a matter of fact they do all they can to encourage it.

It is/was your choice to play a game where paying is an option, so don't go blaming others for using the available options.

Same here. Got addicted, and started reading. But the worse thing was I have had those dollars to spend. Nothing crazy to get me anywhere as I didn't even imagine the amounts ppl have in the game. And to be honest, it wasn't like that before, wasn't crazy, or at least I didn't think so. Now the gap raises, I could catch up, but addiction remains the same.

Hopefully another handful of 'nice' releases will make me do what I know for sure is the best thing to do)

I myself started playing in 2012 when the cap level was level 40... Didn't do PvP till I reached 40 and i was not a spender... maybe a couple of hundred at the most... it all started when I decided to PvP and was getting killed like a paper soldier... )))) hence a lot of losses on the leaderboard, it's now close to 5:1 ratio win:loss but it was a big pain to climb.

I started around the same time with dk. Pure f2p. Worked hard to expand inventory etc. Was doing pretty good until lvl40. Then quit, as I didn't have liberation and lvl40 arena was impossible. In a year started with a mage. Was staying low, now very low, but leveling up eventually through events and pvp. Got my first dragan, invested a little bit, a little bit more, and I was doing very good. On par with the best mid 30-40 chars, with very good ratio. Until of course I reached the end game. It took me another year to climb back to the top. And then it all disappeared with lvl50. After 3 months of no pvp, lots of farming of 1-2M glyphs per day, another investment, I thought I'm back to the end game. Was doing purely 5v5, got 2M points in few weeks. Was doing 1M dmg in 11 minutes of 5v5... all seemed perfect...

Until I tried 1v1 and 3v3... now it looks I need another year to catch up real pros, especially tanks...

5v5 was easy, as you meet tons of not so strong players so there is plenty of meat to go for. And players are focused on the flag bearers, so fast mage could do something in there with less armor. Especially if you can survive a couple of hits from someone like yourself. So I ended up with 4.85k dmg, 77%crit, 300%+ crit dmg, 9k hp, 60% armor, and 40%resist. No block. And it worked perfect for 5v5.

But 3v3 is whole another story. While it worked fine with other non balanced opponenents, it was no chance against a good team with at least one good dk.

1v1 was even worse. While that amount of dmg was enough to kill every 2h tank before he can hurt you, and lots of 1h, and it was also helpful against hp focused DK with gnob weapon, meeting good balanced player was 90% of a loss. Even similar mages but with dragan+dragonache instead of darkness kill me 9-1. So I switched to dragan as well. Much less crit and crit dmg, but still over 55%/250%. Was better against those 2h mages. Better against archers, but I started losing to some of 2h DKs, as it was not enough dmg to kill the before they triple stun you. And it was still not enough against dragan+shield mages. So I tried that too. And I stopped killing most of the tanks were easy in the former dmg setup. And those with 6k weapon were no way.

Now I'm confused. There isn't one perfect setup fits all. You never know who you are going to fight, and you are never prepared.

Every type of pvp requires different setup. Every opponent requires different setup. Sometime you need to survive more, sometime you need to go all-in to be able to take the flag from 40k hp tank. And the wait time to get into a match is insane not to register for all of them.

And worse thing is that changing setups is so time and gold consuming, that I can't justify it. And all of them but one are far far from farming setups.

I didn't solve that pvp puzzle. Will stick around with farming setup, as it is all so broken anyway.

My favorite PvP modes are 3v3 and 1v1... always have been, the only problem and it's a huge problem is getting matches on Tegan server, real pain. No 3v3 at all and very rarely 1v1, you get one 1v1 match maybe two, and then quiet again....

What Bigpoint has done is created so many different possible setups that in order for players to be ready for any situation/opponent we are forced to gem multiple gears up, that's all, puzzle solved.

Even for PvE I had to gem up my 2-handed with sacred rubies and keep the other ones in my PvP sword.

I stopped using Gnob weapon a while back, rarely switch to it for 5v5s. Below is my PvP set pic, but it's going to change next week, as I am planning to increase dmg and crit chance, just need to get something first.

If they give us an opportunity to change servers I am leaving Tegan for good.... Are you on Grimmag Sebastian? What other language do you speak if you speak any? I'd be happy to join forces with you
