    Hi all,

I have an odd question... It may just be my experience (very limited) in PvP so I thought I'd ask. I have only recently started it with my level 50 character due to the change in the Daily Quests. I do NOT have a PvP build so I'm slow and clumsy compared to most PvP players. I just recently upgraded to Recruit. (whooo hooo?)

I am doing the "Participate" daily quests and doing 1v1 as it goes faster. I am being paired with KotO and higher, which, realistically, is just silly. It makes for a boring PvP match for them and a frustrating one for me.

And in case anyone doesn't understand the difference in ranks...

    Candidate - 400
    Recruit - 3.200 <~Me
    Ardent Recruit - 11.000
    Legionnaire - 25.000
    Seasoned Legionnaire - 50.000
    Ardent Legionnaire - 90.000
    Novice Centurion - 140.000
    Centurion - 210.000
    Seasoned Centurion - 300.000
    Ardent Centurion - 410.000
Novice knight of the Order - 550.000
Knight of the Order - 750.000
Seasoned knight of the Order - 1.000.000
Ardent knight of the Order - 1.450.000
    Flag bearer - 2.250.000
    Marshal - 3.600.000 <~Last three matches
    Field Marshal - 6.750.000
    Grand Marshal - 15.000.000
    Grand Master - 32.500.000
    High Grand Master - 75.000.000

Anyway, I'm not here to discuss the obvious issues with that kind of matching. Instead, I'm here to ask why some of the higher levels are letting me kill them once. Is there any benefit to them? Or are they just being nice and letting me get one kill in, just in case I'm going for the kill quests?

Since I don't care about PvP, does it benefit the other player if I just stand there and let them kill me? I'm not going for honor or anything...I just want the Daily. Or does it make for negative points for them if I don't even try?

    Thanks!

I for example when fighting someone who has really no chance against me I let him kill me and win. I pvp only for the daily quests as well but I dont mind helping others. For a lvl 50 there isnt any benefit from losing on purpose but for lower levels they get honor points and pvp ranks without getting exp, Off course you need to deal a bit of dmg but still. Also another reason might be that they also are doing the pvp quests of just participate and since they dont need to win they let people just kill them.

They sometimes might let you kill them to reboot their HP. Or to distract you/pull you out of position.

I too am playing toons in PvP that I thought would never see the inside of the arena again. Most of the time I get the one hit i need for points in then stand around for the rest of the match. (lol, I even do this with toons that stand a chance of winning the match.)

I'm going with it's cuz they're being nice. There is a honor point bonus for not dying during a match and they are giving that up as well as letting you gain more points for winning one round.

Most of the hard-core pvper's I chat with on Tegan know why there are suddenly more players doing PvP. More players means more matches and that's the benefit for them. Particularly on a low pop sever like Tegan where it used to be there were certain times of the day you could not get a match at all.

The other benefit is there are a lot of players that are pretty well geared/skilled (some of mine included) but not quite enuf to beat that one really OP player that has been hogging the queue. Now these type of players can get a mix of opponents and get more wins overall than before.

So speaking for myself and some others folks I know we all have half-a-brain enuf to realize that there is benefit to spreading the fun around for everyone.

    Luck be with ye,
    Mikey,

First, you cannot expect matches to be fair against you because there aren't that many with the same rank as you are. A recruit lives for a short time, meaning that it takes only a few matches for them to advance to the next rank and so forth. Therefore, at any given times there are more Knights or higher than lower ranks. That is why the system cannot possibly find enough players of your rank to be matched against you. Unfortunately you have to accept that fact.

About other players letting you kill them, could be for number of reasons.

In 5v5, people sometimes let you kill them to get a quick respawn.

For 1v1, it could be for two reasons:

    1. For quick mark of a match when they have a daily for participating number of matches instead of winning them. This makes it much faster to do that.

    2. To check how strong you are and to notice your tactics and to give you a false sense of hope that you might be able to win, and the next two rounds you will be smashed.

I think you get rewarded at the end of matches a bit more if you do more damage. It can also just be a kind of taunt or tease to make their win more depressing for you; some people are just kinda like that.

One player tried to do it for me, but the matchup difference was so huge I couldn't really damage them any. :p
