Ranger vs Mortis - Impossible without using potions?

Hey all,

I have the new challenge to tank Mortis without using a lot of big potions and red essences - that means only with blue essences and normal farm pots. This is my first test run - I hope you enjoy .

What do you think? Is it possible to tank him on this way as a ranger?

 

Well, if your goal is to minimize potion use, you are ignoring one of your biggest assets. You never used your wolves/tree with HP regen. It may only be every 60 seconds, but if you save it for when you need it most, it could make the difference. Otherwise, impressive run.

 

My goal is it to tank him with blue ess and not more than 5 potions (like a warrior). This was my first testrun on the way to this goal .

And the wolfes disturb me - I want run in the back of Mortis for not being hit . The heal of them is (with blue) not enouph to ignore the attacks of Mortis.

 

That is why you should use Wood Wraith, it is stronger, reliable and can stun bosses like Khalys, Mortis and Destructor.

 

So how did you get the "like" bar hack going? I speak German btw, it says "I liked it, all moderators liked it, you liked it, anyone else missing liked it and 99 more people liked it".
BTW I did NOT click like and doubt seriously a few hundred more players have clicked "Like" on your post. Just saying is all. Or is there a reward for likes and you found an exploit?
Other than that, tanking Mortis with blue and no more than 5 pots. Meh, that's why there are DK's in game. Kudos if you ever succeed, if not, it's your game, play as you will.

Yes, I know why DK's are in game - but why don't search a way how to tank him as a ranger without big costs?! I know that I will never be such a tank like a war, but I want do this, because it is a nice challenge for me. I don't tank him all the time, I just wanna show you what is possible in this game, when you can play good enough and when you have good enough stats.

here I show you my third try to tank him on this way. You see that only every second attack hits me, but this is not enough to reach my goal .

 

It's good to have this challenge, but it's not quite like what you described about using blue essence. And you can avoid on average 2-3 out of 6 swings from mortis together with the andermagic blast which is already quite good actually, but not only received hit from the second swing attack as you said. Anyway it's a good try, but in my opinion this kind of attack mode is quite tiring and not very applicable for constant farming. Still hope you make it~

 

Well, since you are using witch chaser and not dark set, I would say you take more dmg per hit. Don't try to dodge mortis's swings when you don't have adrenaline or if you don't use dive. It is a pure waste of time and he will most likely still land a blow. Since you are using chaser, I doubt you being the tanker is effective. If you are using dark set, just dodge the ander magic blast and run around when you are in adrenaline or using dive. Otherwise, just take the hits and deal more dmg instead of wasting time and hp running around and still getting hit.

 

Since NightWalker mentioned the Dark Set, I will give my personal experience with Witch Chaser Set versus Dark Set for tanking:

As a DK, when I switched from 3xDark to 3xWitch Chaser - I had major problems tanking Mortis with blues. It was easy with 3xDark set and blue ess. Very difficult with 3xWitch Chaser set and blue ess. I think tanks should use Dark Set, if you have it. It doesn't look like a huge difference in damage reduction, but I think it makes more of difference than it would seem to "on paper". I only lost 7%-8% damage reduction, and that made such a big difference in tanking that I melted the witch chaser set after trying Mortis with it (since Tanking is my primary job).
