    "its all very complicated"

It's as complicated as this half wit management makes it and no, its not hard - its literally combining databases and if they cant do it in relatively short time then I dont even know (and probably dont want to know) what their "infrastructure" looks like. Server/character transfering is a norm in online gaming for YEARS now. Another simple thing that DSO struggles with - imagine my shock. Every user has unique ID anyway that separates their "data" from other users. Doing database merge should be very simple.

Blizzard has systems in place that lets you copy characters from literally any server to their test servers (PTR) and I see no excuse for DSO. Its as simple as copying a character data from "grimmag" database and pasting it inside "heredur" database. Rename characters to some random mumbo jumbo (eg. "Rename This Character 7583"), mark it as character that requires renaming to log in and give player a free rename pack. How simpler than that can it get?

If they are saying its hard its because:

    1) they are lazy and cant be bothered to do that
people still pay so why bother?
    2) their "infrastructure" is terrible
there's no excuse for that - this should be one of the top priorities while designing their "infrastructure" cause they knew since beginning it will be an MMO (MASSIVE, MULTIPLAYER, ONLINE) game
    3) they are understaffed and there's nobody around that is qualified enough to do this work
    4) all of the above

Also Im glad he said what he said, finally (probably as you mentioned, because of the alcohol) acknowledged the elephant in the room. Nobody is willing to "invest" in this game anymore. He already acknowledged this a while ago but only in "private". The game is dying and this is its last breath. This expansion was "ready" (as in assets ready) for a long while now (same as majority of the content before it) and it was just spread out very thin to keep you feeling like something's happening in the game.

On top of that dont play devil's advocate - he is guilty to the same extent devs are. People have flawed understanding of the situation but that doesnt make him any less guilty of the situation ingame. And no, he doesnt care about the game and its players - he shown it on multiple occasions on his streams, dso or his private discord servers. All that he cares about is his job. On one of his streams he even said that he'd rather go partying than spend an evening playing games and if that isnt a red flag then I dont know what is. Should a person with this kind of attitude represent thousands (big majority) of people who'd rather do exact opposite?

They are draining as much money as they can before the inevitable announcement about "servers termination" that will happen eventually (and at this rate probably fairly soon).

Abandon Titanic until its still safe to evacuate unless you want to go down with the ship.

Until these questions are answered by a CM, even little passionate and involved as the one currently in office, I do not think we will receive satisfactory answers.

Certainly if he says it will not done, it is because they told him it will not done. This argument is years old, and the answer has always been the same: "it's too complicated".

Anyone who messes with SQL knows that merging two or more tables (IF these have identical structure, as the ones in question are supposed to have) is the work of a single-line statement: which even works with the db engines of several different vendors (the main ones).

Using scripts well-designed & well-tested in advance (i.e. on copies of current servers) it shouldn't even take too long, whatever the environment would be, but, even if it were 2-3 days, I think any player would happily wait if they knew they would find a much larger and active community after consolidation.

Frankly, there seem to be only advantages also for BP (which in any case is not technically the "mother house", as it in turn is working under their boss, who certainly decides its life or death) if people find company instead of empty rooms to no end.

The only problem that comes to mind is that producer/developers do not want to double the load of users on a single server, perhaps in order not to exceed certain size limits or not to cause latency, lag and map errors even worse than those we are used to when a crowd-pulling event occurs on Heredur. Therefore the issue would be mainly at the software level, caused by the server side of their game engine.

Because it seems simple to those who are not in the trade: just make a "bigger" server, triple the RAM, cluster it more, and so on. Unfortunately, things could be much more tricky than what we could ever imagine: the most useful thing would be for the production to say us how the situation really stands.

    What is a CM?
You all assume it is always the technical side that is the bigger obstacle.
But there are more obstacles ... like political and business side of the problem.
There is a reason why the servers are covering geographic regions exactly as they do. Take the case of the Arab players as an example ... when their Bashiq was closed down they were not sent to Heredur or Grimmag but to Werian (even if they are probably at the same location) where the population of Turkish players was the highest.
