i am relativly new to the game and have been useing a shortbow because of the attack speed and the damage is almost as good as a longbow. but have relized that at some point i need to move to longbows and stay there, the question is at what wisdom lvl is a good point to switch to longbow. i relize that the damage output posability of a longbow greatly surpasses that of a shortbow mainly due to explosive arrow skill and longbows 20% resource redution. the low attack speed is the problem for new players and thats why longbows i belive are only truly endgame viable wepons, and require a certan amount of wisdom points to be able to use efectivley. anyone know how many points are need in wisdom before the swich to longbow is a viable option.

ps. am working tword a endgame build that will allow me to fire explosive arrows x3 faster for a perm armor break on mobs. i belive it is posable with some items/sets and longbow/ and gems. i am new only played two months so far and i see great posabilty in explosive arrow. 42k x2 crits on armor broken mobs with war essence and my gear sux.

For PVE switch now, for PVP you'll need at least 1.61 attack speed.

never think long bows is for pvp......UNLESS you have royals ....even if your speed is over 1.60 you will be dead while u try to shoot the first shot...its easy target rangers with long bows even if they spend their points on travel speed and fast attack still they die easy

Go for longbows, they have far better damage than short ones and the 20% concentration reduction makes it more efficient.
The mobs in game are not too smart as players in PvP. You can easily predict mob movement and hence attack speed isn't your main concern at all.
For PvP, I still prefer longbows. Find longbows with speed enchantments. Longbows with a balance of good damage and speed enchant can beat most of the shortbows out there in terms of speed.
    Good Luck!

    Well said.
darogus keep in mind that is 1.61 attack speed without a single knowledge point spent on attack speed.

You're going to need at least one attack speed enchantment on your bow if you hope to reach 1.61 speed without spending knowledge points. You could get close with 5 royal sapphires, Dark Gloves, Tear Holder. Or you could achieve it with pairing Dark Gloves (or a nice legendary) and the Witch Chaser set for the 11.1% attack speed buff. In any case, it is not very easy to achieve.

I don't use this setup ... it is just for demonstration purpose.

4 Knowledge points + Grip of Darkness + Witch set (which I never use)

My aim is to get better bow than the one i am using for too long ... something like +20% attack speed and + 80% weapon damage.
I don't use rings (tear holder or ring of inner fortitude) ... I have them but they are not in any of my options.
My target is 2.0 attack speed with longbow. (which I can already surpass it but not with the equipment of my preference)

EDIT: I forgot I have these
