Skills - what to use and when

I'm nearly level 30, and thus far have always put all my skills onto the bar for use. But, I'll soon have more skills than I have slots to equip.

So I'm curious for the preferences of other SWs for what skills they like to use and when. And of course, anything that might affect your choices, like talent choices on the various trees that make one option stand out for you as compared to another.

 

Hmm, for pve, I use; freezing no1 and no2, teleport, guardian, singularity, meteor, destruction, thunder, chain of lighting and mind control..
Pvp;freezings, teleport, guardian, singularity, mind control, meteor, fireball, ice missile, chain of lighting.
Something like that Ofc, this goes with different talents for pve/pvp

Here is my set up . I am mainly PVE, trying to do more PVP. So a hardcore PVPer will better advise you on that one

1. Teleport
2. Guardian (buff on Fire guardian, do not have enough mana to cast 2 singularity)
3. Singularity
4. Frost nova/Destruction ( I interchange, if solo frost nova, group Destruction, only weaver Frost nova)
5 . Lightning Strike
6. Meteor
7. Frost Wind

Left Mouse- Magic Missile
Right Mouse Fire ball/Chain lightning/ Mind control. Combo is usually Fireball/Chain lightning but would substitute Chain lightning with mindcontrol depending on the situation.

I'm wondering if you have any tips regarding Singularity, since that's the new skill I'm playing around with. Every time I used it this morning, I got fried in pvp, so obviously I'm missing something here if it's so popular.

 

The best way to use Singularity in PvP is to stun or otherwise make the opponent use their escape moves first. Then you can use Ice Missile or if you have Frost Wind/Frost Nova available, you can use them and cast Singularity. This will pretty much trap them in armor break mode and give you enough time to do massive damage .

 

Because you are under 35lv you dont have full power of singularity. when you hit to level 35 you should take this choice from experience tree:




This is REALLY REALLY MUST choice for all mages.
And when you have this skill use it in PvP/E and you will see a BIG difference how powerful you strikes are when enemy is standing inside singularity

 

Also, the above combined talent with second armor break (DK Iron Brow or SM C14 mini-missile with appropriate talent) at the same time will be at least 4X more devastating than distorted singularity alone.

1. Ice Missile
2. Frost Wind
3. Frost Nova
4. Teleport
5. Singularity
6. Destruction
7. Mind Control

L. Click- Magic Missile
R. click- Fireball
Tab - Chain of Lightning, Lightning Strike, Guardian (I change mid game depending on needs)

Since you don't have some of these or don't have corresponding talents, I suggest to replace with something else.(Singularity, Mind Control) But you should definitely use them once they are unlocked.

 

Hardly too late. All I've done is shuffle skills around on my keys so now I can't find them.

A question about the ice missile though. Did you guys pick the Frostbringer talent? I ended up going with Mysterious charge since I play mostly with a DK friend and it made sense for me to be able to spam more damage faster at the time, although I'm less certain of my choice now.

 

I am using mysterious charge. But, if you are going to pvp and could free reset, you can always choose the frost bringer option.

I know what you mean about feeling lost. If I swap my skills around I swear I cannot play.

 

I use Mysterious Charge talent. I do not find Frostbringer very useful... not since its 10% stun chance was removed.

 

Hi.. I am a newby to L45... and still havent pick my L45 talent. I will be heavily into PW (at Q3 at the moment), so which should I choose

Astral seems attractive but I don't have good Mana gears other than my Wolf Book and the 5 mana gem. (2 Meteor / Destruction will be OP

Any suggestions ?

 

Astral is great for group play such as PWs. The best spell to 'copy' with it is arguably the singularity because then the entire group does double damage to a group of monsters. Best used in combination with Dwarf's C4.

 

er... I tried Astral... i cant get it to work... can anyone give me a step by step guide ? I tried Meteor..teleport for mana....then Mindcontrol but Meteor still not clickable ....

 

You have to hit firstly mind control, then meteor within 1 second, and then you can use teleport and repeat meteor. Hope this helps.

 

The most effective way to use astral imo is to do mind control and cast 1 singularity, then wait for it to end , then cast another one. This will give you the use of singularity in rapid succession with out the need for huge mana. the first one you cast will not start the cool down time so you still have your singu ready to cast when the need arises and the mind control cool down time is lower than the singu so if you don't have to use it just wait when there are many monsters and u can repeat the process. HOpe this helps

 

If your speed is good enough and you click fast enough, both meteor and teleport will remain off cooldown.
