Some general help for a newbie

Hi all, Im Alex, and this is my 5th day into Drakensang(sounds like im in some anonymous group)

I hit lvl 40 today, and need some guidlines cause its getting harder and harder to play.

Ive done every possible quest so far except lvl 40 cloak. I fail to understand the rareness of the drops when it comes to cloak because its not that good of an item.

Until 33 i didnt have probs lvling and then boss in hyalgrimur(ice one) has been a very nice help to boost me up to lvl 37(1h scroll x100% exp netted me around 1.5 lvls)

Now, i got my first set fairly easy, and then i got my 2nd set easy as well on farming the boss.However, i havent had a single drop of 3rd set items during whole atlantis. Dunno why, maybe its too rare or something.

I need some help with what to do regarding items, set items get some huge unrealistic battle rating when you complete them, not to mention their armor value is way smaller then items i got later on. Should i stick with normal items or leave set ones on me???

Also, what better for a mage? 1h faster attack with defense orb, or 1h attack with crit tome or 2h slow attack...at least as leveling goes??

I know ill hit brickwall with quests pretty soon so what do you propose as a good farming spot for lvl 40-45?

Anything else i maybe missed would be appreciated

 

Parallel worlds are great for farming and they offer some quests that give you something to do once you hit the higher levels and run out of quests otherwise. As far as using set items. I would suggest doing it in a group though given your current stats. I personally prefer the patchwork quilt style. I piece together what ever individual items are strongest to make an over all strong character. Some sets, however, are worth hanging on to depending on how and where you play. As far as the crit vs defense. If you have a strong crit build, then use the crit item. If you have more of a pure defense set up, then use the defense item. Hope this is helpful.

 

These new unique set items are for beginners.
As you find better extraordinary and legendary items you should switch to those instead.

You might have to do some grinding from levels 40-45, but if you use Tomes or Scrolls, it would be much easier.

Level 40 sets that you find in Atlantis are really rares. They are not beginner items like the ones that you got earlier, and so they are rare.

But, they are not as good as most legendary items. My advice is to get into a team that hunt Sigris hard. That is the best way to get good legendaries at your level.

For leveling (PVE) the best for a mage is a 2H staff.
For PvP, it is a 1H with an Orb for Duels and 3v3 and 2H would do well in 5v5.

I would say farm Gorga for 40-45 when you are out of quests.
(I don't think you have access to parallel worlds since you started recently)

 

For PVE(other than Parallel world) you would want max DPS so a 2H or a 1H with Book should be what you want.


Also your crit chance is too low.. for PVE you want a decent crit chance
