So, I have conducted a little experiment on Q1 merciless.

    This is my test gear:
... basically, there is no way I could crit or anything like that.

I have attacked some mobs with fireball.
    My fireball has these stats:

    This is what happened:

There is no reason, my fireball should deal 250 damage to 1 mob and 125 to another.

But even that, that seems like a pretty small value, I mean these mobs have millions of HP and I am supposed to burn 1 % of their HP per second.

    I have this setup:

These are actual values from the game:

... both fireball and burn deal fire damage, but the mobs have some resistance, so my expected damage should be modified by some constant, I expect it to be

    base_damage * (1 - resistance)

It's not a surprise, on basic fireball hit, the mobs resisted about 81.44 % of my damage with fireball hit, but the burn effect was resisted by almost 100 %.

Did I get it wrong or is it another bug?

Yeah, if bleed, burn, etc. worked as the description says, it would be broken. I mean, you don't need any DMG to slowly chip away on enemies' lifebars then because the bleed, burn, etc. deal DMG based on enemy's HP and not your DMG value. Which brings me to why would BP even put it in a skill description.

The burn debuff deals 1% of your damage.

    the description is wrong.
If it were true the burn on the monster's life would not have the critical damage.
It is actually 1% your damage for 1 second.

Well, that's disappointing... But anyways, there is no way I could crit.

That was not critical damage. It seems that the one particular monster got the burn effect stacked to value 2 (2 * 125 = 250).

yes 1% damage in 1 sec that can stack up to 50 times ;)

so is this over 80% resistance then correct? should these monsters really have this high res?

it isn't important the resistence of mosters because the burn debuff is only on the base damage ;)

Why are you adding the values together? It doesn't matter how many mobs do I hit, the damage is still the same, single mob: 125 dmg

It should matter, it's fire damage, therefore it should apply the fire resistance of the mobs.

Burn debuff doesn't work like fire damage, so it doesn't look at the monsters'resistances, it's a damage that takes 1% of your base damage and distributes it to all the monsters for one second
if you had only one monster in front, it would have received 625 damages and not 125.

    I don't think so...

If that was true, and it's purely from my damage, I should deal exactly the same damage to monsters at lower level, from infernal difficulty. Well, it's not the case as well:

The burn effect actually deals more damage.

    • The effect description is wrong or the burn effect is not working as intended (it is not dealing damage based on mob's health).
    • The 125 damage comes from 1 % of my damage * (1 - mob's resistance):
    67479 * 0.01 * 0.1856 = 125.241
    • Sometimes, burn stacks are probably applied incorrectly, I don't see any other explanation for the difference in values.

This is not only about the burn effect, this is also about the posion effect.

It really deals 1% of your damage as fire damage, so victim monster resistance applies.
The main thing is that monster resistance damage reduction is not limited to 80%. There is no limit.

    Your damage: 67479 -> 1% = 674.79
Monster (from the picture) LVL1 fire resistance: 625
Monster rank: monster -> resistance factor: 0.2
    Monster LVL125 fire resistance: 625 * 0.2 * 1701.77600097656 = 212722
    Monster LVL135 fire resistance: 625 * 0.2 * 1804.23889160156 = 225530
Resistance damage reduction value for LVL100 attacker: 51398.9453125
    Monster LVL125 fire resistance percentage: 212722 / (212722 + 51399) = 80.54%
    Burn damage to LVL125 monster: 674.79 * (1-0.8054) = 131.31
    Monster LVL135 fire resistance percentage: 225530/ (225530+ 51399) = 81.44%
    Burn damage to LVL135 monster: 674.79 * (1-0.8144) = 125.24

Glad to hear our math matches.

I think this issue is ready to be reported @Mods, if it hasn't been already.

yes, you are right and I was wrong -.-
R246 fix the description : 1% damage of your base damage
No it can stack up to 50 times, more hits more damage ;)

Yee, but that's not a reason I should deal 125 to 1 mob and 250 to another after just 1 hit.

    It's actually very simple.
All common monsters have a high HP value and the damage of most chars has been reduced (reduced too far) to make it difficult for the player, which is also an attempt to get players to make purchases.
I personally disagree with lowering the damage because the damage I can do is less than my char values indicate.
So everyone's dmg should actually be returned to the way it was before the r245 fix.
Moreover, playing on DSO with our current dmg is not really fun anymore.
I will not be used as a plaything for DSO developers so as long as our dmg is not restored to decent values, they can kill their monsters themselves.
