What server should I choose to play?

I've been playing on Agathon for a long time. However, I've thought of switching to another one(I know we can't switch our characters to another server, I'm talking about starting another one from zero to who knows)
Then I got some questions.
I was told once that on heredur we got 30% chance to drop items whereas on Agathon we got 3% and there're fewer English speakers than on Agathon(I still play on Agathon; There's hella people who don't speak English), I would like to know if it's true.

I don't think there's any difference in drops from (bigpoint run) server to server.

I think there were differences in some of the private servers.

 

Novadude is right. The Bigpoint owned and operated servers all have awful drops. He is also right that there were servers that were owned by a different company and they licensed the rights to host the game... along with the licence, they had control over events, drops, merchant wares, etc, and they were very generous. A great many images of the more rare uniques on the wiki came from those servers. However, because those servers are not owned by BigPoint, it is highly possible that those servers could be shut down with little to no warning and no compensation... In fact, it happened to the SEA server just a couple of months ago.

The result: a lot of ticked off players blaming BigPoint that their 3rd party host dropped their favorite game.

The moral of the story: BigPoint may screw us over regularly, but at least they are screwing us over with the intent to do it for the long haul.

As to which server is best for you, I would say Agathon. There may be a lot of non English speakers, but there are a lot of us who do, we simply aren't as talkative. Look for an English speaking guild, that will help. Check out the guild section of the forums and see if anyone is looking.

Now that I have throroughly read this post, I sort of regret choosing Heredur as a server to go on. Almost no one speaks English, and almost everyone in the forums is in Agathon. I was just wondering, does the server capacity make a difference that much?
