You know ... I have been playing some time now (6 months or so) and have come to realize that the developers are not only overly bias towards Dragon Knights they down right make it so a low level dragon knight characters are basically nothing more than target fodder for all 3 other classes of range characters ...

When in history has an archer, someone who stands back from the battle field and has no need for that much armor, and never was given that much armor, had more armor than a knight? I mean really? I was playing my level 45 Dragon Knight the other day and asked a level 45 ranger the I was playing with, what his armor was, His armor was 6100+, his hit points were nearly 10,000. I have been playing nearly 6 months almost every day and my DK has armor that is a little over 4000 with hit points just over 5000. I asked him what his base damage was ... 1500-2200 when mine as a one handed wielding Dragon Knight had a base damage of 605-699... So he can not only outrun me while leaving traps in his trail for me to run over but he can turn and do 3 to 4 times the damage I can and run away before I can get to him ... oh yeah don't forget to mention you gave him 3 rabid dogs and an flipping eagle he can cast out at any time.

Now when has a mage who wears robes of cloth, absolutely no protection what so ever, been able to withstand the powerful blow oh a death mace ... remember that's why you made them nimble, and dragon knights so slow ... Mechanics on the other hand are another subject ... but for an archer and spell weaver to have more armor, more hit points, and be able to do 3-4 times the damage in 1/2 the amount of time is totally unjust and truly makes the game to where anyone who enjoys playing a DK just gets to the point they just create a spell weaver or ranger and quit playing the Dragon Knight character all together or even worse they just quit playing the game due to the amount of bias there is ... This is something that is truly is in need of adjustment ... there really is no call for the blatant over-powering of the range classes.

I am sure you range players who have 1500+ base damage are going to pop in and say ... oh it's fair ... it's fair ... yeah ... it's fair .... you think it is fair because your character is able to destroy any DK in battle and you enjoy that fact ... but some of us hate playing the archer and mage character classes and we really don't like to think of ourselves as fodder just because the Developers don't like playing the Dragon Knights character ...

Come on ... even things up ...

I won't try to convince you of any counter point. Instead I will refer you to the "Show what you have" and Weapon threads in the DK, RA and SW forums to look and see what is possible end game. What the best have shown as potential in each of the classes. Then compare the three and if you still feel the same way, then nothing said here will change that opinion.

I will tell you that the Ranger you spoke to is full of it. Although any of those numbers are reachable independently, you will never see them at the same time on a ranger. Not with present gear.

Sorry man ... you can tell me all you want about "end game" ... I am level 45 and I am at the end of the game and I now being at the end of the game, fully realize the extent of the bias towards Dragon Knights ... So you still don't want to admit he huge difference ... well lets just do a little ciphering here ... how many times have you been running map 2 in Ocean of Bones and had those wonderful ever present love bugs running rampant? ... It happens quite often ... right? ... well just for instance ... I not long ago, being a lvl 45 Dragon Knight was standing beside a lvl 45 Ranger when the Love Bugs attacked ... and boom, one hit, I am dead, and the Ranger, who got hit by the same strike, not only is left standing but takes two more direct hits before he ever dies ... Come on, I have a 1660 block rate ... Why am I, a Dragon Knight with a little over 4000 armor, dead after 1 hit and the Ranger, who has no where near the same block rate, is left to carry on .... And in that, is the total obvious extent of the bias in which I speak ... My argument is not unfounded ... This same kind of stuff happens quite often ... Man it is the DK's that you see dying all the time and not the range characters ... we are not talking about you guys that sit around on your dragons and never do anything but 6 vs 6 or 5 vs 5, because you are at the end of the game ... we are talking about the people starting the game, you know those that are at the beginning and near the middle ... DK's die at minimum 3 to 1 to all the range characters ... I really don't think I or anyone else should have to play a game for almost 1/2 a year to get to where one can say "Oohh, Thank goodness I am finally end game, I finally don't die every time the wind blows ".

Yea, what BigPapa said. I am one of those "good" end game DKs. I have almost 4k armor, 9.5K HP, 1700 resist, a little bit of block from my warlord set... oh yea, and 1550-1860 damage. Combine that with life steal and lots of HP regen talents (which i love to use against those "three rabid wolves") and you end up with a very powerful character. For PvE, there is no better class than a DK, and in PvP, it is debatable (And in fact regularly is). The few people that can beat me usually beat me because they outspend F2P me, not because SWs or RAs are better.

I'm sorry to tell you, but 6 months in not end game in DSO... try a year to 18 months for a F2P.

You obviously did not do what I suggested and you won't get my point till you do. Again, go look at what the potential is for each of the classes. You have 5k hp, you are not end game, I have a level 37 DK wearing some pinks and he has higher HP. He still often struggles with anything higher level so I will agree with you that DK's have a tough go building up their toons through about the high 30's. But nothing can stand up to a well built end game DK.

Heres one to get you started. I took the liberty of copying one of Baragain's beasty set-ups, and I know he has super flexibility to move stuff around and modify his setup based on need and likes because he is end game.

plunder pigge i doubt if you are fully equipped do you have chain and the 2 rings that above char has what kind of sets do you have.
I can say this that DK is very welcome in PvE groups And i think i am a okay ranger that is supporting my group DK as often as my skills reload throwing nets on their targets, thorns ahead of them so they dont get to many monsters at once to deal with. Jumping to their side with my wolves ( please dont call my fearsome wolves rabid dogs) Anyway i like to play and work together with DK-s Just saying

That ranger you speak of has most likely heavily paid and has played much longer than 6 months that you have. Yeah 6.1k armor and 10k is ridiculous on a ranger and even for DKs. You should try comparing with a ranger, spellweaver, and steam that have played similar to 6 months and have invested as much as you have. You have decent armor value and damage, but health points are on the low end. I see lots of DKs ranging from 7-11k, being that the lower rung are usually two-handers. You and I (as a ranger) have played for 6 months, and I can definitely say I'm not an endgame ranger just yet. It takes 'time' to build up unless you have loads of cash to spend. I know DKs that can one shot kill me, yes a two hander. That's over 6k damage dealt to me in one shot. That is the potential of the DK class. Usually it takes me 3-7 precise shots and some deadly blows to kill a one hander. As for PvE, most DKs in my PW groups die a lot less than the ranged classes. It's just a matter of luck when finding gear, money and time invested into the game. Don't let one overpowered ranger skew your vision of the balance between classes.

Hey now, I like my TFs... I mean DKs :) Especially my guildie DKs, there's at least 3 who follow me around plus my partner-in-crime. I just throw down my guardian that aggro the mobs to one spot and they just wail away on the slew while I deal with the crowd controls with my spells. And DKs come in all sorts of different benefits (some I know hit crazy fast while others take in massive beat downs) so it's really hard to say. I don't PvP personally but I know some really mean ones that do well in Capture the Flag and other PvP related stuff (some proudly to say from the guild I'm associated with)

Guys ... I speak and no one comprehends what I am saying ... From the point you start playing, (level 1 toon), until you get to the low end of level 45, which I have played ... Now as you all have made me fully aware, I cannot say how the end game is carried out, for I have obviously not gotten there. But why are you making this an END GAME thing ... No one but you, is talking about an end game ...

Do you know why is the player turn over rate so high? ... I would think that you being an end gamer would want more individuals to play and get to the end game so you could have more 5v5 and 6v6 battles. You know the one's I read about in the forums where players are whining because they are having trouble filling the spots for 5vs5 and 6vs6 games. The ones where people have to wait for what seems to be hours to get a game going and when they do it just so happens that it is the same group of Field Marshals that played yesterday and last week and last month. I would think that you would not want people to leave so quickly and then never come back. Why else would anyone create a toon and then play a week or so never sign back in ... I am sure it has nothing to do with getting bored with the game because of the back and forth of the questing routine or because all they ever did was die or become range players target fodder ... You still don't believe me do you ... Well you can see the overwhelming evidence of what I just said at any time, all you have to do is do a name search and include only a few letters of the name you are looking for. Look at all those players that are level 3-24 or 25 ... there are not nearly that many players playing the game...

I being one of those people who have by fate cant move around very well any longer, usually sit and play this game a lot unless I get so flipping mad from dying every 3-5 minutes because I die ... It does not matter if I have better things to do ... I am unable to physically do them ... So when I say have played 6 months ... I have played most days 8-12 hours a day some days I have actually marathoned 14 hours and have been known to play up to 21 hours in a day ... If don't believe me, have your Dev. friends do a log check ... I am not some kid, who just started playing the game and who's opinion should be shrugged off ... I am talking about my experience, on this game, up to this point, which once again, does not include your end game ... I like hundreds of thousands, if not millions of other players, love the format of this game. I would venture that most got hooked on it while playing DiabloII, for some reason the camera angle, to me is killer ... If I wanted the first person, eye view type of game, I would play EDIT or some other MMORPG. My two children, who are now out of college and I, still get together and play online games. I have played just about every computer game that has come out and you can be certain I have played every format. All the way back to ga-nip ga-nop, which we played on green screens long before Atari ever came out with its table tennis in black and white. So boys and girls when I say that I find the game bias towards Dragon Knights, you know, there might just be a situation that you just might want to look into. Evening up the playing field in the lower end part of the game, which I am preferring to, just might bring you more 1 - 2 year players ... That which, being by your own account, being the amount of time it takes to fully get to the end game ...

    Awaroa,
No I am sorry the game does not drop equipment like that for me ... Are you kidding ... I have spent over 1200 gold and just dropped over 3000 ander in gambling ... want to know how many clover I got for all of that or how about a unique stone (0) and (0), none and none, zip a zoolie, nadda, nary a one. That is my luck in this game ... Something I wish someone would look into ... Seriously ... Not one clover ... Really? Yes, really! Not one clover!

    Jett,
Thanks for dropping in nice to see you and thank you for the input.

    Big Papa ...
Yes, I go all over the forums and I have turned the pages of the Drakensang-wiki, looking up equipment and trying to find better gear, that the pages are beginning to fall out ... So, yes brother, I have done as you have asked not just now but many times before ... I literally research an online game when I play it. I play every character. I want to know how the game is run and see it all from every aspect and angle.

Thank you all very much ... Please realize that none of what has been written here is meant nastily or harsh although it may sound a bit brash. well all except the part about not getting a clover ... and I am pretty mad about that... I mean over 3000 andermant, over 1200 gold and not one stinking clover or unique stone ... Anyway what is written above is just something that I feel needs to be addressed to make the game a place that the people who are in the lower levels of play, continue to play, until they are at the end game ..

Once again, thank you all very much,
Although I am the one know in many games as PlunderPigge you may know me by, "Glundler" the Blundler, the Amazing ever dying Dragon Knight ... Watch folks here comes a 5 mile per hour breeze ... I bet it kills him off.

Plunderpigge, there is a thread similar to this about every class in this game.

I've been playing 11 months now, and the first 9 of those were very serious where I played multiple hours per day trying my best to put up with the mind numbing grind hoping that some decent item would drop. So I perfectly understand how lousy the drops are. Like you, I've browsed the wiki page so many times that I could practically recite it in my sleep, yet I don't know of anyone who has actually gotten most of the supposed uniques that are in the game.

Personally I don't care for pvp (I've done 2 one on one battles in my 11 months of playing) so I could care less about how OP anyone can get their character or how they do it. But from reading this forum, I can suggest that if your focus is going to be PVP, then you'll need to work the system like most others, start at a low level, never gain exp points if you can help it (twinking), and play the same low levels for a few years before jumping in.

A person with limited time in the game isn't going to stand a chance against the twinks. I'm not saying what they are doing is right or wrong, it is what it is, and DSO has not done a thing about it, so obviously they support this type of activity.

What I do know is that there is a huge percentage of low and mid level players who have twinked the game for a long time to become incredibly strong.

Add to the twinking that newer players haven't had the chance to play certain events where better gear was available and it is easy to see why things are lopsided.

No one is going to suggest pvp is fair, it isn't in any game that I know of, but your argument about the DK is the same that is made with every class. Some claim their class is too weak while others claim it is too OP.

I know of a couple of DK's on the Tegan server that I've never see die. They can solo the big bosses like Destructor and Mortis and never break a sweat. I guess there are some spellweavers or rangers that can do the same, but I've never heard about it.

No one is telling you to hush. Unfortunately if you want to be a strong F2P DK player in the game, you just have to grind, grind, grind away and hope you have decent drops. Yes, it involves lots of dying and it sucks but it's not just you. Many other players (including myself) feel the similar pain at one point in the game. All I could say is hope you join a good guild where people are willing to partner up and farm faster with you. Faster farming = faster dropping of items (good and bad... at least you can gold away the bad items).

I dont have an end game DK actually its lvl 38 ardent centurion. Since its my last char 3 others SW,RA,SM all KOTO+, i have enough experience in PVP. I do play 1vs1 , 3vs3 and 5vs5. I can only say dk is not weak especially against RA and SW. To my experience with my SW and RA both ardent KOTO dk an end game DK is the most troublesome to deal with. In 1vs1 and 3vs3 they really dont have a chance against DK. 5vs5 is kind of the main arena for me and usually i do pretty well. With the DK i have a 2 to 1 win ratio in 1vs1. That is the best ratio in 1vs1 with all the chars i have. So DK is not weak especially in lvl 45 with lvl 40 skill in pve and pvp.

Now i think the problem is with your idea of an endgame character. SW is the first one for me i have played that char for 16 months now and i dont even feel that is an end game char. I have with SW 1000+ dmg 1.79 speed 50% deff 50% block 65% 50% crit 227% crit dmg 590 ress.

Even though in pvp 5vs5 my SW does really really good i cant say it is an endgame char since there is a lot more to do. Since you claim you have a end game char pls post the stats here so we can give you more feedback...

Good Dk is hardest to get.. u have 2 ways to reach that... play 2-3 years or go get some drops and invest some money in it o_O u will be great DK in no time xD

That was for PvP, sry :) ... but still for pve is also not so easy, in the beginig DK is only a punching bag.. have i missed something?
DK with good armor and good dmg hard to get... only if you "push" it from the begining and then invest some money in red stones, then is ok..good war in no time :)

I understand your point, though i think a warrior can do more than other classes with the same resources. I mean a new lvl 45 SW or RA has no chance in PW but not the DK. Truth be told when i do M1/M2 with my SW what i expect from a DK is to be the punching bag xD. As long as he can take the heat i can do the damage alone, of course i do expect fine synchronization of skills...

Haha, yes indeed, the incremental steady improvement is what it's all about. And, part of the point I was trying to make although not very directly. It's why we keep playing after all this time. At least me.
