Beware!!! He looks suspiciously like a used car salesman.:)
Seriously, gambling is one of the few vices I've never had and it seems the game is always moving in the opposite direction I'd hoped for. sigh!

Btw, the souls don't attack, the knights that spawn do. And in the topic of gambling, here's my short advice. Don't. Not unless you are a huge P2P looking for another advantage.

Here's my feedback for this release:

New NPC: Zumpe, the Jesters' Trader
    • Gilded clovers are a nice enough addition, provided you can get them. I had the luck of winning one (was it luck I wonder?) but that's all.
    • The drop-rates for the clovers are way, way to low.
    • With the drop rates so low, why would the merchant be selling stuff for 100 clovers?
    • Don't you think it's a bit stupid to have the clovers in your inventory, occupying a slot, and not have it to the top-left like all other currencies? Especially when you can't sell it or do anything else with it. Except throwing it away, of course.
    • Don't you think that it would've been a smart move to give ONE complementary clover to all players? I mean.. some of the players and especially those who aren't gambling.. won't even know how it looks like.
    One-Click Payment
    • Wow! Thanks for this change. We all wanted this! Seriously, how about doing some work for a change? You know, new maps, items, events and stuff and trying to keep your hand out of player`s pockets for a change.
    Alternative Idle Animations
    • A nice new addition that I've noticed, but it's not enough. Check KingsHill. There are still clumps of players being idle and doing the same thing.
    Bug Fixes - Skill bugs
    • Yeah, thanks for the bug fixes. It wasn't a priority but I guess it was less work. People are raging all over about so many bugs and you chose to 'fix' something that no one asked.
    Hotfix
    • I heard you've fixed the map changing (and maybe the group bug). I admit not getting a black screen or a Connection is being established thing since the hotfix, but what do you know? I am getting a new error! Gonna send that to support probably.
All in all it was an uptade with some potential, but as usually it was broken from the get-go. Also, some of us don't appreciate you fixing 'bugs' most of us didn't know existed while ignoring the major and frustrating ones. You should try to stay away from the word 'payment' for some time.

    I apologize.

Release 142 was just another money-minded update, which of course is great thinking considering all the players spending their andermants "trying" to get something which has as low chance as ..

The goat and mount for 100 gilded clovers must clearly be an joke or just once again showing how .. the devs are.
I have nothing positive to say out from release 142. The devs are letting players down who actually believed they would change for the better, but always the same. Money...

    Oh snap, I did reply...

I want some clover but adding it to the game is new content and you have to love it for that. I know it might be hard to get now but let everyone else try for a while and once people stop you might have a better chance.

    Hello,

How ironic it sounds and I quote:
"His wares include a new pet and a new epic mount, as well as exclusive items which you could usually
only win from the Jesters. He takes payment in Gilded Clovers, a new currency which can only be obtained
    from the Jesters."

Now we have new ways to have exclusive items than before, in the past we could have them only from the casino by Jester's way, now we can have them also from Jesper but in a more difficult way, because that actually clovers are, what can I say, nice, do you think we are stupid or you have some logic problems.

Our gold need increased tremendously lately and what are you doing, bring us that ****** Zumpe, insted to do something for the players, you transform DSO in a gambling game.
Repeatable missions have generally reached ridiculous rewards compared to our current needs,
for example in Andrakash we have assignments for 5 and 10 silver, why can't you do something about this.

The same problem is at our daily tasks, at level 45 we have missions at the workbench with rewards at minimum 25 silver and maximum one gold, what are these rewards, when to fulfill it we actually lose gold now.

I attached below some images with the lowest cost for using the workbench, at level 8 and 45 when we using green items, indeed, if we use level 8 items for a 45 level player we can get a profit of 14, 05 silver,
indeed that's super, or should I say wow.

    For level 8:

    And for level 45 items:

The lowest crafting is a repeatable quest that is free. It is in Ellioans.

Ellonidos I think you wanted to say, indeed it's a useless quest there we can use, so what? What's the difference? In this new context, with all this great gold need, do you think 1 gold it's something? If you want to spend your time with a useless quest, it's your problem, but I don't and that isn't a solution, the main problem still remains.

You're right, which means this probably will be deleted like most other "good complaints" about how money-hungry they are.

Seriously BP, just fix what needs fixing, and stop thinking about your profit, it's going to be your loss EDIT
Overall this release is lousy, like all the last ones were. Nice work fixing quests that didn't need fixing, and lowering dropchances on actually good items.
This game should just turn into a farmin simulator, that's all we do nowadays.

I've been biting my tongue on this for a while now.

I have a serious issue with the jesters and it is not due to loss, but as a truly unethical situation. As children play this game and get their parents to assist their efforts with the purchase of andermant, when these children blow their newly purchased andermant on the jesters this game is breaking the laws of not just my country's national, and regional laws, but many other's as well. Andermant becomes a poker chip or chips that are placed on this in game roulette table's squares.

I take social responsibility very seriously as both an individual and a business owner and can not fathom the complete lack of regard on the part of Bigpoint has committed with this. If the expense were merely an in-game currency that could'nt be bought with any form of "real" currency, or at the very least, made it impossible for children to pursue this, then it would be legal, if not moral.

This can and will inevitably end up biting Bigpoint in the rear, I think.

    From the T&Cs:

Any parent who lets their kid play this game agrees the the T&C on their kid's behalf. And if they buy their kid ander (the idiots), then they better understand what they can and may use it for. Also, if I were a betting man (see what I did there), each location's unique T&Cs are probably legaleased to the point where in game gambling is protected. You think a multi-million game company wouldn't have a staff of legal experts review things like this before they release it?

It's a legitimate issue. You'll be surprised what isn't reviewed by lawyers before its done.

I agree whole-heartedly that parents who allow this are idiots, but my point was that the choice to incorporate this element is unethical regardless of their T&C liability exclusions. The situation does occur, and as wardens of the platform, I feel they have neglected their social responsibility.

Depends on how much those lawyers like their jobs... If BP got hit with a big enough lawsuit, I'm sure those lawyers would be looking for work elsewhere. Think of engineers designing a car. If something they overlooked got someone killed, they'd never be able to land a decent job ever again... that sort of thing can be powerful motivation to be involved in everything... that and the vauge wording of just about any legal contract guarantees that you will have a hard time making anything stick against a money hungry company like BP.

And on the topic of social responsibility, it comes back to the debate of "Is an inventor/developer/designer responsible for how their creation is used." (which is a load of crap) Or but more into the vernacular, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." The developers place gambling in the game, but they don't make parents buy ander or make kids gamble. That is where personal responsibility comes into play. You wouldn't give an irresponsible kid a loaded gun, so why give them money that they will spend irresponsibly.

I guess that I am more a proponent of personal responsibility as opposed to social responsibility... people need to spend more time taking responsibility for their own actions, inaction, and choices (and the way they raise their own kids as opposed to letting "society" raise them) and less time looking for someone else to blame.

Along these lines, I have kids. Fortunately, they are not of the age where they play many games, but the games I do let them play on my phone are all locked so they can't buy VC, and I'm sure as heck not going to buy it for them. This means that they have to earn anything they want in these games. That also means that they can do what ever they want in the game, and if they can't do what they want because they made some bad choices, that is their problem. Applying this to DSO, if a kid playing DSO makes their own ander and spends it on disappointing results from the jesters, that teaches them a valuable life lesson about gambling... They earned that so it is their decision to use it responsibly, and if they don't, it is just a game.

    EDIT:
Oh, and gambling has existed in this game long before the jesters, it just wore a disguise. Remember surprise chests and surprise boxes? Remember gem chests? Or how about event chests and amphora? Or the artifact merchant's "random item" box. All of these were/are bought for ander and were just a thinly veiled gamble. There was never any guarantee of high return on those "investments" so to me, that says gambling. If anything, I've seen better returns from the jesters than those old items since removed from the game. I guess that means that BP might actually have done something in favor of the players for once, but don't tell them that, they might "fix" it.

that presumes that a lawyer even looked this beforehand. I have my doubts that the scenario you described is how it went down.

legally it is not gambling because you cant win anything real. also if a parent gives the kid money to buy ander and the kid blows it on the jester there is no debt created. if the parent decides to give again and again thats up to them.
What i do find dangerous is the one click purchase option with the stored bank info, making it possible for the kid to re buy with 1 click (if the bank info is stored). For that reason i dont buy ander for my boy and in my country there is no other way to buy ander only with bank transfer so he doesnt get any
My boy plays DSO and he is 5 years old and very computer savvy and he is a good player (he will kick you from the group if you dont fight hard enough lol). He knows ander is for increasing locker space and not to be wasted on jester and other traps, when he plays on my acc, which he hasnt done after the 1 click re purchase update because he has his own acc now and i have changed my passwrod so he cant without me knowing.
it is the parents responsability to teach kids to avoid traps and also make it impossible for the kids to get tempted thats my opinion.

Yup. Someone must authorize the lawyer's pay. IMHO, BP is too tight to get lots of things done.

No one is spending real money to win (or lose) real money. I think that is a "technical loophole". They probably can't get sued (successfully) for having the Jesters in the game because of this. It's not gambling, by law, unless real money is won or lost. Also, I don't think it's against the law to have gambling in online games. The question of minors gambling is covered by the ToS, as already mentioned. The parent/guardian assumes responsibility for all actions that a minor in her charge may take while playing the game.

Although it may be skirting certain individual's moral grounds to allow this kind of thing in games, I agree with what has already been said about personal responsibility and responsibility for ones minor offspring/charges. Paying attention to what a child is into will prevent/alleviate 98% of issues that may arise. When parents/guardians become "too busy"; that's when trouble usually happens.
