stable server crit hit of 1535 =44,45%
crit damage of 271% =271% big diff :(
    Question,
will the 1 handed wand have more base damage now?
as a spellweaver mostly plays with a book or ball, rarely a 2h wep.
ya'll should of left well enough alone, you built a house of cards and now your tearing it down trying to build it up again.

One thing I can think of is that a 1H axe, 5 or 6 good crit lines (or one good 4x crit item plus 2 other lines), dark helmet might get you to 40% crit chance as a DK without sacrificing too much hp or armor....

I think base damages of all weapons has been buffed up. Pretty sure traki posted some white items in another thread showing higher base weapon damage.

And all that crit lost for only 40% block (40% with 4438 block, ***). Now you're even worse than with book because you will rarely crit and rarely block. I think we need like 7k-8k block now to get over 70% blockrate. Maybe that would be possible with dragan set and a very good shield and the 50% block talent. Hmmm, I think that block can be achieved a little easier than crit though. Because of the 50% talent. I wish we had a talent of 50% for crit too. But then we wouldn't have enough points to choose it XD

Crit Nerf is a good thing for the overall game. Hold on to the tomatoes and eggs for a second.

For this game to survive it must attract and retain new players. It's why they focused many of the releases over the last year on the starting areas: remade the Swerfield and Grim areas and other early game quests.

New toons when they level currently have stumbling blocks at certain points. They don't do enough damage at some levels to efficiently run some maps or complete events. Different classes have different stumbling points. They have to rely on others to do the work for them or to farm endlessly for better gear or ander to buy gems. So, how do you make it better for new toons to compete and enjoy the killing as they level? You increase their damage. Raise the base damage on weapons and give them an option to further increase it through skill points.

OK if your a Dev and you want to raise the overall base damage on weapons and you give additional damage increases obtainable through skill point distribution--so toons don't have to pause in their progression to farm for gear or buy gems; how do you keep a toon from doing continuous astronomical damage and completely ruining the game once they hit the level cap and start to collect awesome gear? ANSWER--You reduce the crit rate.

This game has the highest crit rates of any MMO I've ever seen. Back in the day on WoW, I had the highest crit rate on the server and it was just above 31%. D3 norm is in the 20's. My current crit rate on DSO is 71%. Do you really want to PvP against any toon with 5k dmg and a 70% crit rate? I don't think raising HP/armor/resists on gear to counter excessive crit rate is the right answer.

If you have worked hard on your crit rate (yes I have too) then it will still be higher than others or at least higher than average. Yes your crit rate will go down, but so will everyone else's. The linear rate now means that those below you will be even further below you than they were before.

In through the nose....out through the mouth.....in through the nose....out through the mouth. Repeat after me: My toon will be fine...my toon will be fine.

New hp reg on dk will murder class.
I was playing on test server and i know that it will be very hard to adapt on new system, at least for dk...
Lacking points on skill system, hp reg, still don't know what to put knowledg points on...
Well maybe it's just me but everything is wrong.

I would leave same system as it is just put 1 new skill, 2 new knowledg and 2 new pvp

There was a photo going around of a 2h character with 5000 base damage and about 10% crit rate.
The dpi is still far higher than a current op 2h at lets say 3000 damage and 60% crit rate. Its worth checking it out and playing around with the calculator.
People are just used to seeing those lovely crits - well now they'll be even more satisfying lol. You're going to get the occasional extremely high hit which will make pvp interesting.
But it will be interesting to see the diversity inside each class when people opt for a high-crit, typically assassin-style build in other MMO.

I can be satisfied with the crit nerf IF it happens to the old OP Low Level Legendaries. I showed the image of the weapon decoration that lost 55 crit overnight. Now, if all items are scaled so that no single line is higher than the new max and all the other lines are equally scaled, I can get on board with that... Sure, it defeats the usefulness of crit damage and essentially makes Cloaked Wrath one of the most useless weapons in the game now, but across the board, it could be an improvement.

The problem is that right now, there are too many "If"s, and no firm answers from the likes of Greg and Haruki

Hello @BigPapa. I havent played any other MMORPG than DSO, but I have a query, how many of those games had a MASSIVE difference of power between a new player( even some new player who quickly levels to 45) and a player who has spent atleast a considerable amount of time on game and can manipulate his character to be strong at entry level/ end game level. The reason most new players turn away from the game after starting playing DSO is the massive amount of grind/ money/ time required to bridge that gap even a little. When I entered DSO what hurt wasn't doing PVE going diff maps , infact it was exciting and at that time, I had started on all classes. The more I came to know about how to tackle maps, how to tackle crypt, how to tackle lvl17 heredur, playing as different classes kept me engaged and interested, and many other players too. If we needed help we did and it grew many friendships in game. But as I progressed 80% of the players I had started the game with left the game. Not because we couldn't kill bosses but we realized the MASSIVE gap in power between some of the other players and us. When I was lvl17 a level 12 helped me to farm crypt regularly. level 13's killed me in pvp. When I was level 36, you know how hard it is as a beginner to do newmoon/fullmoon events. I saw a level 30 DK one time and another time a level 26 ranger carrying me through those events and killing all solo with me staring on in awe. In that scenario lots of players either left the game or took a resolve to become as strong or stronger than the players they saw.

Now coming to crit rate nerf. I dont think crit rate nerf will in anyway remove the massive power difference in any sort of way. Plus DSO as a game takes insane amount of money( if you aren't from a privileged country) to get to the highest levels of strength, and because it takes so much money, I dont think reducing the power difference between f2p and p2p is fair either. In that case I dont see much benefit from the crit rate nerf going to new players joining the game. Even if the new players are given more damage, most of them WILL lose interest after seeing some players doing the same things that they are doing in a very very easy manner simply because they have no interest to either spend that amount of money OR grind day and night for a year to bridge that gap, afterall most humans play games just for fun and timepass, not for the thrill of killing powerful monsters/other players as part of a second life.

Now taking away crit and all the other things nerfed by DSO( which would take a whole page to write) in that situation is only like breaking down a solid castle upon the beach a person spent his whole game career building and asking them to rebuild the castle with much lesser amount of sand(lesser points) but spending even more amount of water(money/grind) which will only lead to the castle breaking down again. The reason u are giving, if i compare it to the one saying, the beach would look better, hence the castle is being rebuilt, but problem is, its not the castle but the whole beach being dirty which is making the beach looks bad..
Some builds maintained by many players now, made after farming insane amounts/spending insane amounts ( I know you and me are some part of that group too ) for a game are practically based on the crit damage part of the game, like many Sw's, rangers, most DK's, and also few steam mechs have modified their char to have high amount of crit damage instead of proper damage.

I have no doubt that my toon will be okay, since DSO is my addiction and I will make sure to make it okay. But that doesn't mean the game play in DSO could not have been improved in so many more ways than making the players feel like they were cheated of their money/ time they spent to build up their specific toons specially after they were falsely promised by the CM's that nothing would be taken away. and the nerf on the available points to distribute among skill/fame/knowledge is an entirely different story(no it is not challenging, its just a waste of all the beautiful different new sub-skills the developers came up with which could have been put in so many different combos!!).

Also as an example because the crit rate was not linear, some people who could afford to wear the dragan set with little less crit, would now because of the linear curve, be forced to abandon that build because then most people wont be able to kill any mob/PvPer simply because of lack of enough damage/crit!! With dragan set 2-3 crit rate items were enough to get 1200 or there about crit if you didnt have low level items, now having 1200 crit rate would mean having 12% crit rate :p That suks :D

Well that's what I think anyways, See you- in game :D

News flash for you... it costs an insane amount of money even if you do live in a "Privileged" country. The price is adjusted up to reflect the higher average income. That is why some people try and cheat the system and try to convince support to change their country so that they can buy inexpensive andermant... I know a couple who have tried and failed.

Hello @_Baragain_ ^^ .Yes that is exactly what I meant by privileged countries, where anderment cost upto 50% lower because DSO thinks people there are poorer. :) and the rest of the world are all as rich as someone riding on a private camel on their private aeroplane to travel from one state to another^^.

Love ya Shil. I can't argue with any of the points you made about feeling let down because something is being lost/taken away. That feeling for most folks won't go away until next week when they see the whole picture on their new toon. I too experienced the "how did that guy get so strong" encounters. I remember OrangeGeorge taking out Sigris hard for me and a full grp of newbies when I was a level 28ish. I saw what was possible with some time and effort. I wanted to be that guy that was an example of what could be. It took a while to figure it out to my own satisfaction and get the gear I thought would work best, which at the time was a departure from the "standard." build. But, I feel like I got there.

Nothing about that primary idea will change for me. Yep my crit will take a hard hit, but I know that will not be the way to build anymore. I won't want to use my old 45 gear anyway so, I will as quickly as possibly try to develop a new plan as I replace items with higher level stuff that will work in the new system. My attack will probably change over time as we see the new set uniques and boss drops. It's a challenge I look forward to. I have been playing DSO for a long time and as much as I enjoy this game I need something new. This is what I have been waiting for to reinvigorate my enthusiasm: crit be damned, I'll make it work anyway.

What I can say to add to your sand castle analogy; is that we as a community have to move to an entirely new island. The old island is indeed dirty and they don't know exactly what to do to make better castles. I know that some will want to stay on the old island because you love your current castle, but you will never learn to make them better and life there has become stale because of it. Many are leaving the island already because of that. Soooo lets move. The sand on the new island is different and requires a new way of building. Although it will take some trial and error, we want to learn to use the new sand to build brand new, bigger, and better castles. If you try to use the new sand the same old way you did before, your castle won't be as good as it can be; although you will still have a place to live on the new island. We'll invite new people to join us on the new island who will appreciate the new sand and in the long run, I think all the old residents will also.

Love ya too @BigPapa :) Yes I totally understand where you are coming from, and I also look forward to new builds, new islands and new type of sand( I would love to see golden sand :p) However you also have some experience on test server and me too after release 155, and you have to agree, on the initial looks of the new island, it seems so incomplete and could be done in a much better way with some preparation!!

It is sad to see such a great game getting torn apart by so called improvements. From the sound of things we are not just getting [IMG] ed, we are getting royally [IMG] ed in the process. I mean come on, 5 andermant as a drop in a level 48-50 map, what is the incentive to farm that? I could do better with a lot less effort in a low level map! From what I have seen on the test server yes there are some improvement to enchantments, but the drops are crap! I have been playing the new maps since their release on test server and although I have a very weak 45 character, ( a stable 45 character without the 50000 ander boost), I have gotten 0 legendary drops and very few extraordinary drops, mostly blues and greens and , well green armor against level 46-50 monsters . I agree with Shila, I am a DSO addict, I am not going anywhere, I love this game and I will learn to love it even after this disaster is over, but DSO devs/CM's if you care even a tiny bit about the people who play this game, (and frankly the reason you have a paycheck), PLEASE I BEG YOU PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT WE ARE SAYING!!!
I know, as I am sure everyone else does, that you guys are working your [IMG] es off to bring us new content and I have enjoyed playing it on test server, but why take so much away in the process???

That's because you have quivers, books, and tools... a DK sacrifices a lot of speed (>10% for 1h and >12% for 2H) to get that 12.5% crit from an axe and it's questionable if it is worth it.

The achievement page is still glitched, the true totals won't hold.
For example, the reward for the Witch Chaser set keeps resetting to 0, even if you are wearing all 3 pieces.

Can you fix it before the new achievements are dumped in on top of the broken system?

    Hello there,

and here we come again with some answers - brace yourselves, I expect some peanuts back in retaliation.

Yes, please, let's all keep calm, since we have said multiple times that we are reading you and that there will be future balances to be made depending on statistics and general community feedback once Rise of Balor comes to the live servers.

    1. Yes, of course we are in the loop about some random problems of players trying to access not only 5v5 but also 3v3. We have it in our bug fixing pipeline so we expect to see it tackled in Rel156 or Rel157. We will keep you guys in the loop in our future patch notes.
    2. If I am not mistaken you are referring to the Twitch session when we talked a little bit about the Skill System 2.0. In that conversation we only covered the skill system per se, which has only added options and talents to the existing skills, and did not mention fame or wisdom trees at all. "Officially nerfed" is quite the word. We would like to say "officially balanced", since that is the whole motivation for such a change which may be quite drastic for you and others but it makes sense for the development team.

Hey there, well, if you have thrown it away it is indeed very unfortunate. At the moment you can only get this one through the Login Bonus and only once so... I do not think we will be giving this gem in any other way. Sorry!

Hello there Yash786 - do not worry, we have only introduced changes when we have seen that there was a huge reason to do so (really unbalanced situations, for instance) and focused on bug fixes. Expect to see some changes in the future regarding the skills but we will do so with statistics and bigger player-base feedback backing up that action.

The drops should have gotten better regarding in-game money as well but they still be below a gold. Sorry!

If you are referring to the Higher-Quality Arrow, yes, this pvp skill is gone for all classes. In addition the team has adjusted the projectile velocities of all skills (except for Chain Lightning) to be the same.

*Breathes heavily* My toon will be fine. My toon will be fine.
Gimme the tomatoes and eggs and I will do an omelette out of them.

Thanks for adding those interesting pictures and not using the ""bad"" words. ;) Ok, I would give you that 5 andermant drop in a level 48-50 map is quite... meh. And I would expect some changes in the drop rate in the future, as it has already happened in the past. As for the other point of discussion: WE ARE PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE SAYING! We will proceed forward with the foundations that you have seen in test server (Skills 2.0, fame and wisdom trees rework, item balancing, new stats, etc, etc) and we will do so with the community feedback we are receiving.

As it has been already brought to conversation in this thread, of course this is a new feel to the game in some aspects (DSO is not a new title after all, needs some evolution...) and we understand that it can take a while to get used to it. You may find this hard to believe, but we do not get extra-sadistic pleasure in inflicting you with a painful set of features aimed to destroy your characters... That would not make sense. The team really believes that all the changes will make for a more balanced and better DSO experience in the future as a whole, paving the way for even more cool features and additions.

Talk to you in the next post!
