When I play this game it reminds me of EDIT alot.

And in EDIT there was trading and in EDIT there is even auction house.

But DSO and EDIT are different entities , but somehow when I play the game I feel empty a bit.

Would like more player to player interraction via a trading method.

Well that is how I feel.

When Im melting or selling some decent useable gear sometimes I get the feeling that I would like to give that item to other player or even sell it for a small price.

Or when I have some eccences that I wont use or too many elixirs that I could sell like 50 % of them.

One other game has similar gameplay to DSO called EDIT it has almost the same loot system and similar gameplay but there is trading and also auction house.

Also that game and DSO are different entities.

Would be nice to have a simple trading system though , but idk if BP has any opinion about it

I have read some other Threads here aswell about it , but most of the Threads ended up rant and eventually went offtopic pretty fast.

My point is players on DSO have to Rely so much on the SHOP given to them by BP.
And they cant do trades with other people.
As of now I have had to rely so much on the andermant shop that it is insane , but I would love to rely on people who I could do trades with or even exchange items for improved gameplay so I dont have to spend so much of my money and I could spend my time and plan out my item sales to profit and progress in the game much more efficiently.

Will BP implement a trading , auction system ?

    Any thoughts ?

Trading and/or AH has been suggested for 5 years+
BP has time and time again stated that both suggestions would ruin the game and open up for botfarmers galore, and that they will NEVER ruin their own game this way! (They want to ruin it their own way, i suspect! XD)

Joke aside... They will never-ever implement it!

    Cheers!

    Hello, all...

I, too, would like to see some kind of auction house function or some sort of trade ability between players. That would, however, take some of Bigpoint's earning potential away. I don't see that happening any time soon, then.

I used to think a mail system might be pretty cool, until I saw how ripe that would be for exploitation.

A guild bank, though, would be an excellent enhancement. It would be kind of like a communal locker, into which anyone may deposit gear, coin, Andermant, anything, and have the guild leader or officers regulate withdrawals to prevent looting.

This thread may be placed in another forum. I'm sure we'll know later.

    Regards,

No trading, no guild banks, none of that crap. If you want trading, go play that other game.

A guild bank would be awesome. Since most of the 50 members of my guild are all my toons I could really use this ;)

... and that would eliminate the need for (most of) the mail function. lol

    ROFL!

But on topic, Theusen covered it. There have only been one or two suggested implementations of trading that I haven't immediately hated and been able to point out significant flaws in. Trading is one of those complicated things that if done wrong, it kills the game (talking about games that has a pay to play aspect vs subscription), and BigPoint does not have a good record with doing complicated things well... they actually have issues with rather simple things sometimes too, but that is another story.

you think it would be too difficult for them to make a trading system ?

For a talented team of designers who are trained to think like the "bad guy" and can develop systems without easily exploitable loopholes... sure, it can be done.

But this is BigPoint. If you'd like, I can list some of their more impressive failures, but we might be here for a while. They even manage to break things when they "fix" them.

LMAO could not have said it better myself! XD

-The only thing, I would have added, is that they do not even play their own game, and they are therefore completely clueless when it comes to adding intelligent or impressive stuff on their own!
-This also means, that new stuff allmost never is tested before its released, and even though all it would take, is listening to feedback from players on the testserver, they can not even manage that... I have lost count on how many times people warned the BPteam about glitches, bugs and exploits before a new release, (BPmods are here actually doing a GREAT job, as they actually play the game and knows what is going on, but they also get ignored by the BPdevs like us mortals ;)) and BP just plainly ignored all warnings and made the release anyway...

Hence the nickname: "B*gPoint"... (I cant write the missing letter, because I would get banned and/or my post get deleted/edited, but take a wild guess;))

    Cheers!

DSO EN Team is very liberal, we don't ban players for making puns. As long you stick to the rules you have nothing to worry about. ;)

    Cheers.

The fact that you have to buy all new stuff (gems, locker, etc.) if, lord forbid you want to have another character, is so backaswards to me. So when the new character comes out, you have to start all over to make a strong character (which takes years as f2p or hundreds of dollars), why are people excited about that?

The game mentioned in the original post has a mechanism that restricts higher tier gems per character level, but that would crush the twinky industry in this game.

A new class definitely benefits those that have little invested in the game.

I've sometimes thought that it would be interesting to be able to "retire" a character to be able to address this. Basically, you'd be able to pay some fee in andermant (5k-10k is doable for a F2P who really wanted to do this) and be able to put a certain amount of items into a box for your new character. Then, you'd be able to make a new character and this box would be in his inventory, but he couldn't open it until he reached the level that the original character was when he was retired. That is the closest thing to "trade" that I'd actually like to see.

Now that is something might work even though it can be exploited ... but with a good concept and design it is doable.
By "retire" you mean delete or just inactive?

Retire means "Delete" in this case, and you'd have to be a minimum of LVL 40 to retire a toon so that they can't abuse the new character boxes friend invite boxes as easily. Or, some items, like those boxes and the items that come out, could have some sort of programming flag that marks them as not being able to be passed down to their decedents.

I really do like this. I have a couple of accounts with lvl 40 toons from back when the cap was 40. This was also before the achievement system so these accounts do not have all 4 classes. (e.g. one acct has 2x Dk, SM, SW; another 2x SM, DK, RA.) I also have run into 2 other old players on Tegan that have returned to the game since I have that have the same situation.

In the latest Dev Diaries the producer said the goal was to revitalize underpopulated servers like like Tegan. Something like this could be incentive for more former players to return to that end. The idea might also keep older players on the verge of burnout from leaving.

That is easy... combine Agaton and Tegan and we'll all be happier. Then, they just need to find any toons that have matching names and give them each a suffix at the end of their name indicating where they came from and a free name change. First one online after the server merge has the choice to go back to their original name without the suffix with the name change, and the other guy gets to make a new name. Of course, the first guy could just chose a new name all together and the second would be able to go back to their original name, but you get the idea.

And like it was originally proposed, this game has reached an age that the old players have so much time and effort (and sometimes money) that they don't want to give it all up and they'd rather keep working with a toon they don't like as much. For example, I'd love to make a SM (not just a LVL 50 for the achievement, but a good one), but the prospect of having to do all that farming and work is not appealing. If I could make a new SM with the knowledge that when I reach LVL 50, I'd have the same sort of stuff, I would love to. The same will likely go for the new melee class, whatever it may be, when they finally release it.
