So it has been several days of the "failed to verify the signature of a downloaded file" error. The problem is supposedly be caused by a CDN and still persists. There are a lot of posts and comments from users, but none from the staff. So what I am wondering is why there is so little care about the users of the game. The people you want to pay you money are seeing nothing being done to resolve the issue. I just started playing a couple of weeks ago. If I had ever entertained the thought of paying for something in this game it is just about gone. Why would I ever want to give some one money for this?

I kindly read like you told me to. Both of the links and the "here" you kindly provided do nothing but point to announcements that have nothing but the original post that there is a problem. As far as I can see there is no reference to a fix or when it is going to be fixed (if it has been can you point me to that information?). So, just based on the information you have kindly provided, there is no new information and no one has any idea of when it will be fixed and the users that are affected by this will be able to start playing. (BTW, just taking the second and posting that it is still broken and what a possible eta might be is all I am really asking for.)

  3. @danwli We were informed that the "failed to verify the signature of a downloaded file" error was caused by Microsoft abandoning its support of XP and Vista which meant that those OS's no-longer recognised the signature of the DSO client. A fix was scheduled for inclusion with R162, but it has been brought forward as a Hotfix because of the number of players adversely affected. The first link I included in the above post outlines the issue and gives a temporary solution - i.e. that you use Firefox for now. The second link is to the Hotfix which will, hopefully, fix this issue. The third link is for the information about the CDS issue which you incorrectly assumed was linked to the signature verification issue. All of the posts that I have linked you to are posted in areas accessible by general forum users.

Great...thanks a lot...but I would like to clarify a couple of things...None of the places you pointed me to say anything about the "Fail to verify..." issue. They mention problems with XP and downloads, but there were other issues with downloads going on besides the "Fail to verify...". The post about using Firefox is on the "Fail to verify..." thread and there are many comments advising that it is not working either. None of those were acknowledged. I did not "incorrectly assume" anything. A post from your moderator "Teddy.Bear" in the "Fail to verify.." thread clearly states "The Team has confirmed and acknowledged there still are issues with updating the client, the problems being caused by our CDN (Content Delivery Network). We will keep you updated with any news we receive on this matter. " While the three threads you pointed to are accessible by general forum users none of them are listed, or mentioned, or pointed out in the thread I was looking for help on, nor were they mentioned in the announcement I was advised to look at for updates.

Thanks a lot for the info. Looking forward to seeing if it works tomorrow...
