Well, for once, it isn't BP's fault. You could always complain to Google's customer support for removeing NPAPI support (they view it as a security risk) or Java's technitions (for being slow to adopt the new standard) and see if they are anywhere nearly as helpful as BP's support team.

Chrome was simply the first to remove this aging programing interface. I'm sure that in time the other browsers will too, but hopefully, because of this kick in the pants from one of the world's bigest tech giants, Java will have developed somthing new that is also backwards compatiable.

I would rather say making monopoly.
Mozilla freedom philosophy is way to go.

Mian question is: What about plyaers who played over third party? They cant log in game over Firefox (Mozzila), IE or thin client. They just can play over Google Chrome. And now what, i build character over 3 years (third party-google) and now i cant join the game. So i hope Google will give user names and passwords for all players who played over third party (Google), just like Yahoo do, if you remember.

Dear players! Google released an update to version 42 and all plugins, including JAVA (which is needed to run DSO) are no longer working with Google Chrome. This is what we were warned about before. This is entirely decision of Google and result of their policy and not DSO

BUT IF YOUR Chrome HAVEN’T BEEN UPDATED YET:
You can turn off updating of Google Chrome broswer by doing this:
press “Start” buttion – find “Run” and press it – write there “Msconfig” without quotes – pick “Services” and find there
    + “Google Update Service (gupdate)”
    + “Google Update Service (gupdatem)”
Uncheck those checkboxes and press OK.
    OR:
open Control panel – Administration tools – Services – turn off Google Update Service

IF Chrome WAS UPDATED and you are be forced to download the client or it asked for a JAVA update
here is what you can do

    1. Write into address bar and press enter:
    chrome://flags/‪#‎enable‬-npapi
    2. in the appeared window press ENABLE under Enable NPAPI.
    3. Restart the browser.
    4. Game is working again.
If you don’t want to do any of this, simply change browser to another one.
REPOST IT SO EVERYONE WOULD KNOW IT,not only DSO players. All (JAVA, unity web player, etc) suffers this decision of Google.

hope a MOD will move this thread to the correct section of the forums :) thanks

NPAPI is almost 20 years old. Technology changes a lot in 20 years. If anything, I'm surprised that this API lasted this long. Firefox may be all about freedom, but not even they will support a standard that is totally depreciated. They will likely be the last to remove support (and by then it likely won't mater because people won't be using it by then anyway), but time waits for no browser.

So and C++ is 30+ years old ... but still rules.
It is not about the technology whether new or old ... it is about privacy. Google is working for the government and its "black budget" companies.
On the other hand you have FF where the community is free to enhance it by making add-ons and other kind of widgets that can improve user's experience ... where with Chrome you won't find that. It is a strict monopoly ... they are telling you "you will follow only one path - ours".

I got the email too stating google chrome doesn't support java any longer... it's not a very good browser... it's really over-hyped... flash and java have never worked on it properly in the first place lol so no difference there... it's an okie browser for watching videos but lately a lot of virus's get through it... the security isn't so good on it, so id definitely consider uninstalled it and just using Firefox as your default browser, i've had no problems with my PC since uninstalling it, it would cause more freezing from flash and java in Firefox while i had it installed, now it rarely happens, i give my PC a clean bill of health every time i do scans now too :) clean as a whistle since getting rid of it.
